HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Junior outside hitter
Sommer Rhea tallied a season-high 12 kills while the Warhawks tallied eight service aces en route to a 3-0 (25-15, 25-15, 25-11) victory over LeMoyne-Owen College, as the Auburn Montgomery volleyball squad picked up its first win of the season with the three-set sweep.
NOTES
• AUM improves to 1-2 to this season.
• LOC falls to 0-4 this season.
• The Warhawks defeated the Magicians in the first match in program history last season.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Rhea hit for a .455 clip while recording 12 kills on 22 attempts with only three attack errors. She also tallied five digs and two blocks.
• Senior middle blocker
Brianna Garvin tallied eight kills on 13 attempts with only one attack error.
• Freshman
Emily Ward matched her career high in digs with a team best 10 against the Magicians.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• The first set saw the Warhawks jump out to a 7-2 lead capped off by a kill by Rhea. AUM then slowly pulled away from LOC, taking a 20-14 lead after
Skylar Coppinger notched a kill. The Warhawks would then go on a 5-1 run to take the first set 25-15.
• The two teams traded points back and forth in the second set before the Warhawks took an 11-8 lead on a LOC service error. AUM the went on a 9-4 run to take a 20-12 advantage before earning the 25-15 victory on a Ward service ace.
• LOC took an early 3-1 lead in the third set before the two teams battled to a 7-7 tie. The Warhawks would then go on an 18-4 run to win the set 25-11 on another kill by Rhea.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
• AUM tallied 36 kills to just 20 for the Magicians.
• LOC recorded 40 digs while the Warhawks recorded 33.
• The Warhawks hit for a .245 clip as a team.

The Warhawks will host LeMoyne-Owen College on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the AUM Gymnasium as a part of the AUM First Invitational.
