QUOTING THE COACH
"For our first conference match of the year it was a good opportunity to see where we are with our conference teams," said Melissa Robinson. "Our team competed and we just didn't get the outcome we expected, but it was a great growing experience for our team. Knowing our depth and how each person contributes is a great feeling. Carly (Smart) had her first triple-double tonight which was an amazing accomplishment for our team along with our defense. I'm excited to see where we go from here!"

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Warhawks fell behind 17-5 in the first set before a UM service error gave AUM the serve. The Orange & Black could not get their offense on track as the Falcons took the first set 25-10 on a Hannah Fernandez kill.
• The two teams battled to an 8-8 tie before the Falcons went on a 5-2 run to take a 13-10 lead. After the teams traded points back and forth UM would go on a 10-2 run to close out the set and take a 2-0 match lead.
• AUM would come out firing in the third set, before the Falcons would take a 14-9 lead. The Warhawks would then go on a five-point rally with Garvin providing four kills to tie the game at 14-14. Once again the teams would trade runs until AUM had set point at 24-23. A service error by the Warhawks would tie the match at 24-24. Neither squad could gain the needed two-point advantage until AUM was able to at 30-28, closing out the set on a kill by Garvin.
• After battling to a 6-6 tie to open the fourth set AUM could not keep the momentum going. UM used a 9-2 run to take a 15-8 lead before the Warhawks were able to get a pair of points back. The Falcons then tallied five points in a run to go up 20-10 on a kill by Fernandez.
