ALBANY, Ga. – The Auburn Montgomery volleyball team snapped a five-match losing skid on Tuesday evening with a 3-0 (25-8, 25-19, 27-25) victory over Albany State in non-conference action on the campus of the Golden Rams.
NOTES
• AUM improves to 9-7 on the season.
• ASU falls to 0-10 with the setback.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Junior outside hitter
Sommer Rhea led the team in kills once again with seven in the match.
• Sophomore middle blocker
Jaylyn Felder tallied six kills with two blocks and a service ace.
• Freshman outside hitter
Nyah Whittlesey also recorded six kills while hitting for a .308 attack percentage.
• Senior defensive specialist
Haley Toler posted a team-high 11 digs while chipping in four assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• The first set saw the Warhawks jump out to a 13-3 lead before the Golden Rams were able to break serve. AUM then went on a 12-4 run to close out the frame, earning set point on an ASU service error.
• The Golden Rams got their offense on track in the second set, taking an 8-4 lead before AUM was able to score a pair of points to cut the deficit to 8-6. ASU would score three quick points before the Warhawks rallied for six straight points to take a 12-11 advantage. After the Golden Rams broke the serve the Orange & Black went on a 7-1 run to go up 19-13. The two teams would trade serves back and forth until AUM was able to put the set away on a kill by
Tynesha McWilliams to win 25-19.
• The third set saw ASU take the early advantage again, this time jumping out to a 17-13 advantage. The Golden Rams then went up 19-15 before AUM rallied for five consecutive points to take a 20-19 lead. Once again the teams would trade points back and forth until the Warhawks held a 24-23 advantage. ASU would fight off match point and tie the set at 24-24 and then again at 25-25, but AUM would be able to score two quick points to take the set 27-25 and the match 3-0.

Melissa Robinson. "It was a great team effort. The players worked extremely hard tonight."
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
• AUM scored 48.0 points with 35 kills, eight blocks and five service aces.
• Albany scored 33.0 points on 25 kills, five blocks and three aces.
• The Warhawks hit for a .204 average while ASU was at .031.
UP NEXT
The Warhawks will host Gulf South Conference foe Alabama Huntsville on Friday evening at 6 p.m. in the AUM Gymnasium. The Warhawks will then hit the road the next day, taking on league opponent West Florida on the campus of the Argonauts. The match is set to begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
