MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Four players scored in double figures, with junior forward
Victoria Morales notching her first career double-double, as the Auburn Montgomery women's basketball team ousted Fort Valley State 59-45 on Wednesday, Jan. 16 from the AUM Gymnasium.
NOTES
- With the win, AUM's record improves to 2-14 on the season.
- AUM grab's a 1-0 all-time series lead over Fort Valley, as Wednesday night marked for the first meeting between the two in women's basketball.
- Wednesday night also marked for the second time this season that four Warhawks scored in double figures, and the second time in AUM's last four games.
- Morale's served as the second Warhawk to record double digits in both points and rebounds in a game this season.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
- Morales finished with a game-high 12 rebounds, to go along with a career-high 15 points. The junior forward also accounted for three assists and two blocks.

Jordan Brewster logged a game-high 16 points, to go along with three rebounds, an assist and a steal.

Evelina Avleeva scored 12 points, while finishing just two rebounds shy of a double-double at eight. Avleeva also grabbed two steals.

Aaliyah Milord grabbed double-digit rebounds for the second-straight contest and third time in five games, with 10 boards. Milord also dished out three assists.

Makaylla Bullard added 10 points, while also picking up five rebounds and two assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Warhawks kicked off the game on an 8-2 run through the first two minutes of play, capped off by a three-ball from Brewster at the 8:06 mark to put AUM up 8-2.
- A back-and-forth remainder of the first period saw Fort Valley get to within one point of AUM twice, but the Warhawks would continue to stay in their offensive groove to finish the quarter on top 17-15.
- The Wildcats opened the second on a 5-2 run to lead 22-19 at the seven-minute mark, but AUM would rebuttal with a 9-2 run over the next four minutes to hold a four-point advantage over Fort Valley at 28-24 with three minutes left in the half.
- After taking a 31-30 lead with 59 seconds in the second, AUM would get the last basket off the half courtesy of Avleeva to take a 32-31 lead into halftime.
- The Warhawks created breathing room in the third quarter, outscoring the Wildcats 11-2.
- Leading the Wildcats 35-33 with 4:35 to go in the third, AUM would rattle off an 8-0 run to the end period and hold a 43-33 advantage over Fort Valley.
- The Wildcats would go on to cut their deficit to five points at 45-40 with 7:14 to go, but the Warhawks would finish the game strong on an 14-5 scoring run to put an exclamation point on the game and secure their second-consecutive win.

- The Warhawks tallied 50 rebounds for the second time in three games, out-rebounding Fort Valley 50-30.
- The Warhawks shot 34 percent (19-55) from the floor in the game, while holding the Wildcats to just a 26 percent (15-57) shooting night.
- AUM connected on a season-high 15 free throws, shooting 83 percent from the charity stripe on the night.
- The Warhawks registered 20 points in the paint, with a season-high 16 second-chance points.
- AUM also saw a season-high 20 points of contribution from the bench.

The Warhawks will travel to Montevallo, Ala. to take on in-state Gulf South Conference rival University of Montevallo on Saturday, Jan. 19. Game time is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
