MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn Montgomery women's basketball team trailed by just six points at halftime of their 71-47 loss to Delta State University on Thursday, Jan. 31, but the Lady Statesmen would go on to outscore the Warhawks 36-18 down the stretch in the second half to help propel them to their Gulf-South-Conference victory over AUM.
NOTES
- With the loss, AUM's record drops to 2-18 overall, and 1-11 in GSC play.
- The Warhawks all-time series record with Delta State falls to 2-3 with the setback.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS

Evelina Avleeva tallied a team-high 11 points on the night, while falling just one rebound shy of a double-double with nine boards.

Jessika Milton notched a season-high eight points, while dishing out a team-high and career-best three assists over a season-high 31 minutes of action. Milton also pulled down three rebounds.

Makaylla Bullard added 10 points and two assists, while
Jordan Brewster knocked down three treys for a nine-point total.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- A back-and-forth first four minutes of the game saw the scored tied at six-all at the 6:02 mark in the first. The Warhawks took a 13-10 lead after a successful jumper by
Kendra Boone at the 3:54 mark.
- After reclaiming the lead 16-14 at the 1:44 mark on a trey from Bullard, Delta State would respond with a quick 4-0 run to end the first quarter on top 18-16.
- AUM would take their largest lead of the game at the 7:51 mark in the second quarter on a fast-break layup from Milton to put the Warhawks up 22-18.
- Delta State would go on to re-take the lead 26-25 at the 4:27 mark, and would continue their offensive push to finish out the quarter on a 17-7 run over the final seven minutes and 51 seconds to lead 35-29 at halftime.
- Quarter number three saw the Lady Statesmen outscore the Warhawks 25-10, including a 12-2 run over the first four minutes of the period and an 11-3 run over the final four minutes and 50 seconds of the third.
- AUM held Delta State to just 11 points in the fourth quarter, but the Lady Statesmen's scoring outburst in the third proved to be more than enough to help them coast to a 71-47 win.
QUOTING THE COACH
"This was an extremely tough night for us, in which we were just outmatched physically," Head Coach
Sean Page said. "After a solid first half, we just could not compete in the second half."
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
- The Warhawks finished at 32 percent (17-53) shooting on the night, after going 40 percent (11-27) from the floor in half number one.
- AUM scored 12 points in the paint, and 12 points off of Lady Statesmen miscues.
- The Warhawks held the Lady Statesmen to just 25 percent (2-8) on three-pointers on the evening.
- Delta State won the rebounding battle, 47-25.
- Thursday's game featured eight lead changes, and five tied scores.

- The Warhawks will return to action on Monday, Feb. 4, when they play host to West Florida in Gulf-South-Conference action. Tip-off from the AUM Gymnasium is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
