Hoover, Ala. – Playing in their second match of the day, the Auburn University at Montgomery volleyball team dropped their neutral site contest to Eckerd College 3-0 on Friday night in the GSC/SSC Crossover.  

NOTES
- AUM's record drops to 9-9 in 2019.
- Eckerd rises to 13-5 on the year.
- The Tritons won the match 20-25, 12-25, 20-25.
- The Orange & Black fall to 0-2 in the GSC/SSC Crossover, with one game remaining.
 
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
- Senior middle blocker Ariadne Borges led the way for the Warhawks in kills with nine.
- Sophomore setter Isadora Nicolai led AUM in assists, registering 20 helpers.
- Junior libero Carla Butler paced the Warhawks in digs with 10.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The beginning of the match saw back and forth action as both teams traded points, but it was Eckerd who would take the early 11-9 lead. However, the Warhawks would come back and win four straight points thanks to kills by Maria Nicolau and a service ace from Butler to take a 13-11 lead. AUM's four-point streak was matched by four straight from the Tritons who would go on to take a 15-13 advantage. Later in the initial set, Eckerd would distance themselves from the Orange & Black by taking five straight scores to go up 23-18. The Tritons would go on to claim victory in the first set 25-20.
- Eckerd would continue the momentum gained from the end of the first set by taking seven of the first 10 points to jump out to an early 7-3 lead. The Warhawks would cut the deficit down to 12-8 thanks to a kill from Sommer Rhea. However, her kill was met with the Tritons winning the next five points to extend their stronghold to 17-8. Eckerd College would go on to win eight of the following 12 points to eventually capture the second set 25-12.
- The Orange & Black were able to capture the first three points of the third set thanks to kills from Jaylyn Felder and Nicolau. However, AUM's three points were instantly matched by the Tritons, and the game was tied at three. Eckerd would eventually take eight of the next 10 points to run their lead to 12-6 before Rhea and Borges were able to stop the streak and cut the lead to 12-8. The Warhawks would fight back late in the final frame with a kill from Butler and attack errors by a pair of Triton attackers, but AUM faltered at the end of the third set and would drop the final frame of the match 25-20.  
 
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
- The Tritons recorded 41 kills while the Warhawks were able to tally 28.
- Eckerd College swung at a .327 clip, while AUM hit .139 in the contest.
- The Orange & Black netted 41 kills, while the Tritons bumped 48 balls.

UP NEXT
The Orange & Black will wrap up the GSC/SSC crossover with a match against the defending champion Tampa Spartans on Oct. 19. The match with Tampa is scheduled to begin at 11:15 a.m.
