HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first quarter started with a bang for the Orange & Black, as right off the hop
Aaliyah Milord recorded a steal 22 seconds into the game that led to the Warhawks' first two points of the night on a
Jemaiya Lee jump shot. Lee would tack on two more points with two shots from the charity stripe to give AUM an early 6-2 lead. Following the free throws, the game resulted in a stalemate, something that would be a common theme for the rest of the game. The game would go two and a half minutes without a score until the drought was broken on a Miles free thrown to bring the game to 6-3. Two more minutes would pass by without a score, as neither side was able to get any offensive momentum. The first quarter ended in an 8-7 Warhawk advantage.
- The second frame started with back-to-back jumpers from Morales and
Roni Richardson to extend the AUM lead to 12-7. The Golden Bears brought the Warhawk lead to two thanks to a free throw from Jasmine Thompson. Richardson would go on to hit another three to extend the AUM lead to 15-10. The shot would be the only score for the Warhawks for the next four minutes. With AUM trailing by one, Lee broke the scoreless streak with a jumper to give AUM a one-point lead. A Wallace free throw was the last points for the Orange & Black in the half, which resulted in the Warhawks trailing by one going into halftime.
- Miles took the first four points of the second half and led 23-18 before Bullard ended the Miles run and brought the game to within three for AUM. Another 6-0 run for the Golden Bears saw Miles lead 29-20 with six minutes to go. Lee had the final field goal for the Warhawks in the third quarter and trailed the Golden Bears by six going into the final frame.
- It took three minutes for either team to net a point in the fourth quarter, and it was the Golden Bears who got on the board first in the fourth. Two free throws from Mya Milner gave Miles a 38-30 lead. Richardson scored the Orange & Black's first points of the fourth with just over five minutes to go in the quarter to run the game to 38-32. Another lengthy drought came after the jumper, as neither team scored until the 2:05 mark of the fourth. After Lee cut the score to 38-34, Miles went on a 5-0 run to take a 43-34 lead in the late stages of the fourth. Morales did her best to keep the game within reach with a jumper with 13 seconds left, but Miles pulled away and won the game 44-36.

QUOTING THE COACH
"We got beat by a better team tonight and we have to give them credit. However, I was disappointed with our commitment and focus heading into the game. Hopefully we can learn from this and grow as a team.
