Taylor Reaches 1,000-Point Plateau in Setback at Embry-Riddle

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. --- Senior guard Darrion Taylor became just the 19th player in Auburn Montgomery Men's Basketball history to score 1,000 career points in the Warhawk's 115-80 loss to Embry-Riddle on Saturday, Nov. 16 in the final game of the Daytona Mitsubishi/Kia Shootout. 
 
The loss drops AUMs' record to 2-3 on the year, while bringing their all-time series record with Embry-Riddle to 1-1.
 
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
- Taylor was one of four Warhawks to score in double figures, with 11 points, a team-high six assists and three steals. 
- Stanley Davis scored a team-high 17, going 3-7 on three-pointers and a perfect 6-6 on free throws.
- Carlos Bell scored 14 for the Orange and Black, while hauling in six rebounds and blocking three shots in a game-high 36 minutes played.
- Joshua Moore added 11 points for AUM, while Maharrith Jackson pulled down a team-high eight rebounds.  
                  
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Embry-Riddle opened up the contest with a 10-4 scoring run over the first four minutes, and would follow that up with a 14-5 run next over next 3:25 to lead 24-9 at the 12:07 mark in the first.
- After scoring the next eight points to bring the score to 24-17 at the 8:49 mark, the Warhawks would see the Eagles rattle off a 20-3 run over the next three and a half minutes to take a commanding 44-20 lead with 5:06 to go in the half. Both teams would score 13 more points each, to see the score read 57-33 at the break. 
- The Warhawks and Eagles both began the second half with 13 points over the first four and a half minutes, with the score at 70-46 in favor of ERAU with 14:30 to go.  
- The Eagles would break things open even further over the next 2:38, however, with a 16-5 run to go up 86-51 with 11:35 left. 
- AUM and ERAU both would tally 29 points the rest of the way, to give way to the 115-80 final score.  
- Taylor eclipsed the 1,000-point mark on a layup with 11:53 to play. 
 
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
- AUM shot 39 percent (27-68) from the floor, while converting on 45 percent (10-22) of their three-pointers and hitting 72 percent (16-22) of their shots from the charity stripe.
- Embry-Riddle won the rebounding battle over AUM, 46-37.
- Of the Warhawks' 80 points, 31 came off of the bench, 24 were scored in the paint and 16 came off of Embry-Riddle turnovers.
 
UP NEXT
- The Warhawks will return to their home court on Wednesday, Nov. 20 for a 7:30 p.m. contest with Miles College.
