Bozeman’s Buzzer Beater Gives Men’s Hoops First GSC Win

MONTGOMERY, Ala. --- Junior guard Jeremiah Bozeman dropped in the game-wining layup as time expired to give the Auburn Montgomery men's basketball team a 73-71 win over the Flames of Lee University in Gulf South Conference action on Saturday, Nov. 23 from the AUM Gymnasium. 
 
NOTEWORTHY
- The win improves AUM's record to 4-3 overall, and 1-0 in GSC games.
- The victory also marks for AUM's first Gulf South Conference victory as a full-fledged member of NCAA Division II.
 
STANDOUT PERFORMERS  
- Darrion Taylor notched a game-high 22 points on the night, going 7-12 from the field and 4-7 on three-pointers.
- Maharrith Jackson logged his third double-double and second in as many games, with a 12-point, 10 rebound effort in the win. 
- Joshua Moore and Bozeman both registered 10 points, with Bozeman hauling in seven rebounds and Moore with six. 
- Stanley Davis added 11 points, going 3-6 from the field on the afternoon.  
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
- AUM opened up the game on an 11-6 scoring run over the first four and a half minutes, knocking down five of seven shots to begin the game.
- After seeing the Flames go up 14-13 for their first lead of the game at the 11:24 mark, AUM would go on to score the next six points to claim stake in a 19-14 advantage with 8:50 to go in the first.
- Lee would go on to rattle off a 10-4 run over the next four minutes of game time, however, to reclaim the lead at 24-23 with 5:02 to play in the first.
- Both teams would trade baskets over the final five minutes, as a Davis jumper at the buzzer would even the game at 34-34 heading into the break.
- The Warhawks and Flames opened up the second half by knocking down five of their first six, with the score reading 49-46 in favor of AUM at the 14:34 mark.  
- AUM would go up by as many as eight two different times over the next eight minutes, with their most recent time coming off of a pair of Taylor free throws to put them ahead 63-55 with 6:01 to go. 
- The Warhawks lead would waffle between two possessions and one possession until the 1:57 mark, when the Flames would tie the game up at 66-all with a pair of free throws.
- AUM would score the next five points unanswered, with four coming from Bozeman, to hold a 71-66 lead with 37 seconds left. 
- A Lee three-pointer, followed by another Flame basket off of an AUM turnover, would knot the score up at 71-all with 18 seconds remaining. 
- With the game's final possession, Bozeman would deliver the dagger and lay in a circus shot as time expired to clinch the 73-71 victory for the Warhawks.

- For just the second time this season, five different Warhawks scored in double figures.
- AUM shot 46 percent (25-54) from the floor in the game, highlighted by a 51-percent (14-27) shooting performance in the first half.
