HOW IT HAPPENED
- Alabama Huntsville grabbed the early offensive advantage in the contest, earning the first eight points and took an early 8-2 lead in the first quarter.
Alexia Wallace got the Warhawks on the board first with a layup to end the Chargers run. UAH continued their offensive dominance with a 12-4 lead heading into the first media timeout. Both teams traded 3-point looks after the media timeout but neither the Warhawks nor the Chargers found consistent success from the 3-point line. Alabama Huntsville ended the first quarter on an 11-2 run and took a 19-6 lead going into the second.
- Richardson opened the second quarter with a good look from deep, however, her shot was off the mark and UAH came the other way to extend their lead to 21-6. Carter was able to end the run with a layup on the Warhawks' second possession of the quarter for her first two points of the night. A Charger 3-pointer put UAH up 28-8 in the early portions of the second quarter. AUM's offensive struggles continued into the back half of the second quarter as they would find themselves down 44-20 heading into halftime.
-
Jordan Brewster scored the first two points of the second half for AUM, scoring her fourth point of the contest in the process. The Chargers responded to Brewster's layup with a 11-0 run to stretch the lead to 52-24.
Aaliyah Milord hit back-to-back 3-pointers for her first points of the night to run the score to 56-32 at the time but it proved to be insignificant as the Chargers would head into the fourth quarter with a 60-32 lead.
- The fourth quarter started with a bang for the Chargers as they were able to knock down a 3-pointer in the opening seconds and convert a strip steal for two more points almost immediately after. Richardson knocked down a three to convert the Warhawks' first points of the fourth quarter, to extend her point total to 13. The Orange & Black would go five-consecutive minutes without recording a bucket and ultimately fell in the contest 77-39.
