HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Trojans jumped ahead early in the first quarter and took advantage of stellar defense to grab a 7-2 lead in the opening minutes. Three minutes would pass before either side was able to grab a bucket, but it was Carter who snapped the cold spell with a layup to run the game to 7-4. Trevecca Nazarene answered with three-consecutive buckets to take a 13-4 lead, before the Orange & Black answered with three straight of their own to narrow the lead down to one. The run was capped by a Carter 3-pointer as time expired.
- The Warhawks took four of the first six points of the second quarter with two free throws from Aaliyah Milord and a Carter layup. The Trojans went on a 7-0 run in the middle stages of the second frame, although another defensive stalemate ensued in the middle portions of the run as neither school to register a score. Two free throws from Morales snapped the Warhawks' scoreless streak. The Warhawks took 14 of the next 17 points in the final moments of the first half to take a 30-29 lead going into the break.
- The third quarter was largely controlled by Trevecca Nazarene as the Orange & Black were only able to muster five points in the third period. Morales got the scoring started in the second, netting a layup to extend the AUM lead to three. The Warhawk center tied the game at 34 moments later however, six-straight Trojan scores sent the game into the fourth quarter with Trevecca Nazarene leading 40-35.
- AUM came out swinging in the fourth quarter, taking nine of the first 11 points of the quarter to regain a 44-42 lead. The run saw buckets from Jemaiya Lee, Wallace and Morales to help propel the AUM effort. A layup from Trevecca Nazarene's Samantha Whiteman tied the game at 44 but the Warhawk offense came alive again with five-straight points from Morales. With the Orange & Black up by three, Jordan Brewster netted her first points of the game with a 3-pointer that gave AUM a 54-48 lead.
