HOW IT HAPPENED
- Troy got on the board to open the game in the first quarter with a basket off the opening tip. However, it was the Warhawks who responded with five-straight points behind a Jemaiya Lee layup and a Morales 3-pointer to grab a 5-2 AUM lead. Morales got one the board again shortly and knocked down her second 3-pointer of the game to give AUM a 10-4 stronghold. The Trojans fought back in the middle portions of the first quarter which resulted in a three-point Warhawk lead going into the first media timeout. In the dying moments of the quarter, the Trojans were able to cut the lead down to 16-15 with back-to-back baskets. Troy concluded the first frame on a 10-2 run and took a 22-18 lead into the second quarter.
- Roni Richardson knocked down her first three points of the night on the opening possession of the second quarter to cut the Troy lead to 22-21. Multiple free throws from the Trojans aided in Troy's new five-point lead three minutes into the second quarter. The Warhawks would rely on free-throwing shooting in the early stages of the second, as the team would not register a field goal for the first four minutes of the period. A Jordan Brewster 3-pointer would break the streak to narrow the Trojan lead to 28-26. AUM would go scoreless for almost three minutes to allow Troy to jump out to a 40-30 lead in the late stages of the first half. The Trojans would take a 12-point lead into the halftime break.
- The third period went Troy's way early on as the Warhawks struggled to get into a rhythm offensively. The Orange & Black were out-scored 7-2 in the early going of the second half and subsequently gave Troy a 49-32 lead. Neither side was able to muster much offense in the latter stages of the third quarter as both the Trojans and the Warhawks went over four minutes without scoring. Troy closed out the third period on a 15-2 run to take a 57-34 lead into the fourth quarter.
- The fourth quarter carried over the offensive struggles for the Orange & Black as the Warhawks were not able to knock down a shot within the first three minutes of action. Troy, meanwhile, extended their grip on AUM and jumped out to a 61-34 lead in the early stages of the fourth quarter. The Warhawks would get on the board for the first time since the 4:00 mark of the third quarter with a Makaylla Bullard layup to cut the lead to 62-36. Troy continued their success into the final minutes of the game and won the exhibition contest 72-42.

QUOTING THE COACH
"I thought we played well, we had a good first half. You can see the disparity between the two teams, we have better basketball players, they just have better athletes. You can see that in the offensive rebounding, their best offense was a missed shot. Overall, we played pretty well and if we kept people off the boards, we would have had a better chance to win the game."

UP NEXT
The Warhawks will return to action on Saturday, Dec. 7 when they travel to Fort Valley, Ga., to take on SIAC foe Fort Valley State. The action against the Wildcats is set to begin at noon.
