HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first quarter began with two technical free throw shots for the Warhawks due to a delay in getting the Clark Atlanta starting lineup. Brewster stepped up to the line to knock down her first two points of the night before the game had even begun. Brewster would hit the team's first field goal, a 3-point shot to give AUM an early 5-0 lead. The Lady Panthers ended the Warhawks run at five straight points, but the Orange & Black responded with four points from Lee and a basket from Morales to take an 11-4 lead. AUM would close out the quarter strong thanks to a jumper from the birthday girl, Roni Richardson, along with baskets from Catlin Carter and Lee to take a 20-10 lead going into the second frame.
- Clark Atlanta was able to find its groove early in the second quarter. With the Warhawks leading 22-10, the Lady Panthers took seven-straight points to cut the AUM lead to 22-17. A Carter layup and a 3-pointer from Makaylla Bullard sparked the Warhawk offense to regain their 10-point lead at 33-23 late in the first half. The Lady Panthers were able to get a bucket late in the quarter to send the game into halftime at 33-25.
- It took almost two minutes for either side to register their first basket of the second half, but the Warhawks scored first on a jumper from Milord. Bullard would find the next five points for the Warhawks to extend their grip on Clark Atlanta to 40-27. Brewster and Morales teamed up to close the third quarter on a high note, with Brewster scoring on a 3-point shot and Morales cleaning up a pair of shots in the paint to give the Orange & Black a 55-36 lead going into the fourth.
- The final frame of the game played similar to the fourth quarter in that it was dominated throughout by the Warhawks. Brewster started things off by hitting a 3-pointer before CAU answered with a three of their own. Clark Atlanta would go on a run in the middle of the fourth quarter, recording eight-consecutive points to cut the AUM lead to 65-47. However, the deficit did not stay small as the Orange & Black had an offensive outburst in the late stages of the fourth to win the game 78-48.
