MONTGOMERY, Ala. --- The Auburn Montgomery men's basketball team dropped an 87-75 Gulf South Conference decision to the Bulldogs of Union University on Monday, Dec. 16 from the AUM Gymnasium.
With the loss, AUM's record slips to 6-5 overall and 1-2 in GSC action.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS

Darrion Taylor tallied a game-high 21 points on a 7-10 shooting night, including a 3-5 night on three-point shots.

Maharrith Jackson logged a career-high 15 points, to go along with four rebounds.

Jeremiah Bozeman scored double-digit points for the third straight game and fourth time this season, with a 10-point performance.

Carlos Bell accounted for eight points, a team-high nine rebounds and a team-high four assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Union opened up the game on a 12-7 scoring run over the first four and a half minutes, knocking down five of their first six shots.
- Trailing the Bulldogs by a score of 15-9 with 14:06 left in the half, the Warhawks would knock down six of their next eight shots and rattle off a 15-2 run over the next six minutes to claim a 24-17 lead at the 8:35 mark in the first.
- The Warhawks would claim their largest lead of the game with 7:35 to go in the first half, when a Jackson layup gave AUM a 29-19 advantage over the Bulldogs.
- The Bulldogs would score the next five points unanswered, however, to trim AUM's lead to 29-24 with 6:49 to play, and would stay within two possessions until the 3:13 mark, when Union cut the Warhawk's lead to just 32-30.
- With the score tied at 33-all, the Bulldogs would knock down a three at the buzzer to take a 36-33 lead into the break.
- Union was able to add to their lead by outscoring AUM 14-6 over the first six minutes and change of the second half to go up 50-39 with 13:40 to play.
- The Bulldogs lead would sway between one possession and two possessions until the 9:48 mark, when Union would break things open with a 15-5 run over the next three minutes and 56 seconds of game time to lead 74-54 with 5:52 left to play.
- The Warhawks would battle their way back and cut their deficit to just 11 points with 1:35 left, but could not finish the mountainous climb as Union would hang onto their double-digit lead the rest of the way.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
- The Warhawks matched a season-high with 21 free throws made, going 21-25 from the charity stripe in the game.
- AUM shot 42 percent (13-31) on field goals in the first half, and 35 percent (11-31) on second-half field goals to finish at 38 percent (24-62) for the game
- The Bulldogs outrebounded the Warhawks in the contest, 40-33.
- The Orange and Black recorded 30 points in the paint, 20 bench points, 13 fast break points and ten second chance points.
UP NEXT
- The Warhawks will return to the court on Saturday, Dec. 21 when they host West Georgia at 4:00 p.m. in GSC play.
