MONTGOMERY, Ala. --- The Auburn Montgomery men's basketball team closed out the 2019 portion of their schedule on Saturday, Dec. 21 with an 89-77 loss to the Wolves of the University of West Georgia from the AUM Gymnasium in Gulf South Conference action.
With the loss, AUM's record evens out at 6-6 on the year, and drops to 1-3 in GSC action.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS

Darrion Taylor led AUM in scoring, with 14 points on a 7-16 shooting night. Taylor also accounted for a pair of assists and rebounds, and a team-high three steals.

Maharrith Jackson totaled a career-best 16 points, while knocking down a career-high six field goals and hauling in three boards.

Aaron Reddick tallied a season-high 13 points, in addition to grabbing eight rebounds and shooting 80 percent from the field on the afternoon.

Joshua Moore added 11 points for the Warhawks.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- West Georgia opened up the game on a 15-6 run over the first five minutes, knocking down six of their first eight shots.
- The Warhawks would battle back over the next two minutes, however, with a quick 8-2 run to trim their deficit to just three at 17-14.
- With the score at 23-22 in favor of UWG, the Wolves would rattle off a 10-0 run over a two-and-a-half-minute period to lead 33-22 with 7:19 left in the half.
- West Georgia would hold on to a double-digit lead for most of the remaining time in the first half, to lead 43-30 at the break.
- The Wolves opened up the second half by outscoring AUM 15-7 over the first four and a half minutes, to grab a 58-37 lead with 15:40 to play.
- UWG claimed their largest lead of the game with 3:09 left, when they went up by 24 point at 85-61.
- The Warhawk offense would come alive for the final three minutes of the contest though, as they'd rattle off a 16-4 run to give way to the game's 89-77 final score.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
- The Warhawks shot 40 percent (10-25) in half number one, and 51 percent (27-58) in half number two to finish the game at 46 percent (27-58) overall.
- West Georgia bested AUM in the rebounding battle, 37-29.
- The Warhawk's 17 free throws made marked for the fifth time this reason that the Orange and Black recorded at least 17 successful free throws in a game, finishing 17-25 from the charity stripe.
- The Warhawks logged double-digit steals for just the third time this year, totaling 10 in the contest.
- AUM accounted for 38 points in the paint, 30 points off of West Georgia turnovers, 19 bench points, 17 fast break points and 12 second chance points.

- The Warhawk will take a 12-day holiday break from action and return to the hardwood on Thursday, Jan. 2 at West Alabama in GSC play. Tip-off from Livingston, Ala. is slated for 7:30 p.m.
