LIVINGSTON, Ala. --- The Auburn Montgomery men's basketball team saw their bid for a road upset at the University of West Alabama come up just short on Thursday, Jan. 2 with their 61-59 setback to the Tigers in Gulf South Conference play.
With the loss, The Warhawk's record falls to 6-7 overall, and 1-4 in GSC play.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS

Joshua Moore led AUM with 14 points and seven rebounds, both career-highs for the senior center. Moore also knocked down a career-high three three-point shots.

Maharrith Jackson and
Carlos Bell both also logged double-digit scoring performances, with Jackson going for 12 points and four rebounds, and Bell accounting for 10 points, six assists and three rebounds.

Jeremiah Bozeman registered nine points and a career-high seven rebounds.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both teams struggled to get anything going on offense over the first five minutes, as the score would read 5-5 with 14:20 to go in the first.
- With the Warhawks leading 12-10 at the 12:18 mark in the first, the Tigers would rattle off a quick 8-0 run over the next two minutes to reclaim the lead at 18-12.
- The Tigers would hold onto their lead for the remainder of the half, with AUM cutting their deficit to four points on two different occasions.
- An
Aaron Reddick three-point play would trim UWA's lead over AUM to 29-25 with 5:15 to go in the half, and keep the Warhawks within striking distance as the score would read 34-28 at halftime.
- The Warhawks opened up half number two on an 8-4 scoring run to even the score at 39-all with 16:35 to go, highlighted by a pair of three-pointers from Moore.
- But teams would go into a lull offensively over the next seven minutes, with AUM and UWA scoring just six points each. A pair of Jackson FT's would tie the game up at 45-all with 9:09 left.
- With the score reading 47-47 at the 8:21 mark, the Tigers would rattle off five quick unanswered point to go up 52-47 with 6:32 to go.
- The Warhawks would respond with an 8-3 run over the next three minutes, however, to tie the game up once again at 55-55 with 3:41 left to play.
- The Tigers would hit a pair of crucial three-pointers to go up by three points, and then by four points at 61-57 with 1:29 left to play. AUM would answer on their next possession though, as Bozeman would knock down a pair of shots from the charity stripe to bring the score to 61-59 with 1:08 left.
- The Warhawks would get two crucial stops on defense in the final minute of play, and have the ball for the game's final possession. Bozeman would get a pretty good look from the center three-point line, but his potential game-winner just missed off the front of the rim in the final second's to seal the 61-59 victory for the Tigers.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
- The Warhawks held West Alabama to their second-lowest point total of the season, while allowing them to shoot just 39 percent from the floor.
- AUM shot 39 percent (11-28) from the floor in half number one, and 29 percent (8-27) in the second half to finish at 34.5 percent (19-55) for the game.
- Both teams tallied 36 rebounds in the game. The Warhawks grabbed 14 of their 36 boards on the offensive side of the ball.
- AUM scored 24 of their 59 points in the paint, in addition to seeing 11 points of contribution come off of their bench and nine points off of West Alabama turnovers.
- The Warhawks made all four of their three's in the second half, and shot 11 of their 17 free throws in half number two.
