CLINTON, Miss. – The Auburn Montgomery women's basketball team held off a late charge from Mississippi College in the final minute of their Gulf-South-Conference contest on Thursday, Feb. 7 to secure a 59-57 GSC win over the Lady Choctaws.
NOTES
- With the win, AUM improves to 3-19 overall and 2-12 in GSC play.
- The Warhawks all-time record over MC bolsters to 2-1 in their brief history.
- AUM led for 21 minutes and 20 seconds of the game, equivalent for 52 percent of the game.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS

Jordan Brewster tallied a game-high 18 points, on a 5-12 shooting night from beyond the arc. Brewster also hauled in four rebounds.

Aaliyah Milord pulled down a career-high 14 rebounds, while also accounting for four assists and six points.

Makaylla Bullard notched 13 points, while distributing a game-high five assists and grabbing three rebounds.

Victoria Morales brought down double-digit rebounds for the second-consecutive game, and sixth time this season, finishing with 10. Morales also tied a career-high with four blocked shots, and recorded three points and three assists.

Kendra Boone provided a spark off of the AUM bench, with 12 a career-high points and five rebounds over 26 minutes of action.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Warhawks jumped out to a 9-4 lead over the first six minutes of play, with Boone's bucket giving AUM the five-point advantage at the 4:37 mark.
- The Lady Choctaws would respond with a quick 5-0 run over the next minute, however, to knot the game up at nine-all.
- Both teams battled back-and-forth for the remainder of the quarter, with a Brewster three-ball at the buzzer giving AUM a 19-17 lead at quarter's end.
- AUM jumped out to their largest lead of the first half at the 5:17 mark on a free throw from
Alex Brown to put the Warhawks up 27-21.
- Mississippi College would battle back to within two points of AUM at the 2:22 mark, and would take a 30-29 lead into halftime.
- AUM recorded the first basket of the second half on a fast-break layup from Bullard to go up 32-29 with 9:16 to go in the third.
- The Lady Choctaws would rattle off an 8-0 run over the next five minutes of game time, however, to lead 37-32 with four minutes left in the third.
- AUM would battle back to get within two points, but would trail 41-37 at quarter's end.
- MC started the fourth quarter with a layup on a fast break to take their largest lead of the period at six points with 9:43 to go.
- Trailing 45-41 with 7:02 to go, the Warhawks would rattle off a 12-0 run over the next five minutes of game time to lead 53-45 with 1:17 left in the game.
- Mississippi College would not go down without a fight, however, as they would knock down a pair of three-pointers with less then 30 seconds left to pull to within one point at 58-57. A late free throw by Brewster, and a defensive stand by the Warhawks on the game's final possession, would give way to the 59-57 final.

"This was a great team win," Head Coach
Sean Page said. "It is hard to win in this conference, and really hard to win on the road. We got contribution from lots of people tonight. It was very satisfying to see our players hard work over the last few weeks pay off with a hard-earned W tonight."

- The Warhawks shot 34 percent (19-55) from the floor on the night, while going 64 percent (16-25) from the free throw line.
- AUM won the rebounding battle 44-43, which marked for the Warhawks third-highest rebound tally of the 2018-19 season.
- The Warhawks got 15 points of contribution off of their bench, scored 16 points in the paint, and scored 11 points off of MC turnovers.
