KISSIMMEE, Fla. – The Auburn University at Montgomery softball team earned a pair of shutout victories at the Spring Games on Wednesday afternoon, notching a 2-0 victory over California University of Pennsylvania and a 5-0 victory over Dominican College as the Warhawk pitching staff allowed only four hits over two games.
NOTES
• AUM improves to 24-5 on the season with a 5-0 mark at neutral sites.
• California (PA) falls to 4-10 on the year.
• Dominican drops to 2-6 this season.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Junior slugger
Jaycie Walker was 5-for-7 on the day at the plate with two runs batted in and two runs scored.
• Senior outfielder
Jasmine Thompson went 3-for-5 offensively with one RBI and a run scored.
• Sophomore
Michaelyn Foster got the start in game one against the Vulcans, tossing a three-hit shutout over seven innings. Foster tallied a season-best five strike outs in the contest.
• Freshman
Jade Ingram got her first career start and struck out a career-high four batters over five innings pitched against Dominican.
HOW IT HAPPENED – CALIFORNIA (PA)
• Cal put pressure on the AUM defense in the early goings of the contest, getting runners at second and third with two outs. However, third baseman
Hannah Dailey was able to throw out a grounder to keep the score tied at 0-0.
• Neither team got a runner past second over the next three innings before first baseman
Caroline Burns reached base on an error and then was sacrificed over to second by
Gracie Harris. Walker then hit her first double of the day to score Burns from second and give the Warhawks a 1-0 lead. After another error allowed Walker to reach third,
Olivia Aycock reached base on a Charger error which allowed Walker to score and give the Orange & Black a 2-0 lead.
• With a 2-0 lead Foster was able to shut down the Cal offense the rest of the way, as the Warhawks ended the game on a double play initiated by Aycock to pick up their 23rd win of the season.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE – CALIFORNIA (PA)
• The Warhawks scored two runs on six hits with no errors.
• The Vulcans were held scoreless on three hits while committing five errors.
• Foster was credited with the win to improve to 10-1 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED – DOMINICAN (NY)
• Walker led off the game with a double to left and then reached third on an Aycock bunt single. After Aycock stole second Foster drew a walk to load the bases.
Morgan Duschell then drew another walk to give the Warhawks a 1-0 lead. Harris then hit an infield single with the bases loaded to give AUM a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first.
• After neither team was able to scratch a run across over the second and third, Thompson led off the bottom of the fourth with a bunt single and then reached third after a pair of passed balls. After a base on balls by
Kasidy Thompson Walker then laid down a sacrifice bunt fielder's choice that scored
Jasmine Thompson from third and advanced
Kasidy Thompson to third. A sacrifice bunt by Aycock brought
Kasidy Thompson home and gave the Warhawks a 4-0 advantage after four complete.
• Freshman
Brooke Perrigin got a pinch hit double with one out in the bottom of the fifth to put a runner in scoring position for
Jasmine Thompson, who singled down the rightfield line to drive in Perrigin from second to put the designated home team up 5-0.

Natalie Johnsey entered the game in the top of the sixth and allowed only one base runner over two innings, finishing the Chargers off with a strikeout swinging to give AUM its 24th victory of the year.

• The Warhawks scored five runs on eight hits with no errors.
• The Chargers were held scoreless on one hits with one error.
• Ingram improve to 4-0 on the season, allowing only one hit over 5.0 innings.
