HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Warhawks jumped out to a 1-0 lead in their first at-bat, when Blackwell reached base on an error by the Hurricane center fielder with two away that would bring in Zielonko, who reached base one batter earlier on an infield hit to prolong the inning.
- AUM would go on to add four more runs in the third, to up their lead to 5-0. Zielonko plated the inning's first run on an RBI knock up the middle, while Brandt would account for the inning's big blow with a two-RBI infield hit two batters later. With runners at second and third, Friesen would drive in the inning's final run on an RBI groundout to second.
- The Warhawks nine-run fifth inning accounted for their most runs in an inning in 2019, and featured six base hits. Six different Warhawks drove in a run in the inning, with Blackwell and Smelley both accounting for two RBI each in the frame. Friesen, Morris, Arrington and Brandt were all also responsible for a run driven in during the inning.
- After tallying a run in both the fourth and fifth innings, Georgia Southwestern would put a four-spot in the seventh, to trim's the Warhawks deficit to just 14-6. The Hurricanes managed to get just one hit in the inning, despite scoring four runs.
- The AUM bullpen would batten down the hatches for the final two frames, however, and allow just three base runners and no hits to help put a bow on the win.
