PLEASANT GROVE, Ala. – Playing in a midweek doubleheader against non-conference foe Miles College the Auburn University at Montgomery softball team swept the home standing Golden Bears, earning an 18-0 victory in five innings before taking game two 9-1 to improve to 20-4 on the season.
NOTES
• AUM improved to 20-4 on the season with a 4-1 mark in away games.
• Miles falls to 1-17 in 2019 with an 0-2 mark in home games.
• This was the first meeting between the two schools.
• The 18 runs in game one was a season high for the Orange & Black and the most by the Warhawks since defeating Talladega College 21-1 during the 2016 season.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Sophomore
Michaelyn Foster went 4-for-8 on the day with eight runs batted in and four runs scored, recording two home runs and two doubles.
• Junior slugger
Jaycie Walker was 3-for-6 at the plate, tallying five RBI and five runs scored with two home runs and a double. Walker also drew three walks.
• Senior outfielder
Jasmine Thompson went 4-for-7 offensively with three RBI and two runs scored with a double.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME ONE
• AUM loaded the bases in the top of the first, scoring first when
Morgan Duschell hit an infield single to drive in a run. With the bases still loaded
Abby Krueger drew a walk to plate another run before Thompson hit a two-run single to left to give AUM a 4-0 advantage.
• The Warhawks scored four more runs in the top of the second, loading the bases and scoring on a pair of walks and two errors to go up 8-0.
• After adding another run on a double steal in the third, the Warhawks exploded for six runs in fourth highlighted by a two-run homer by Walker followed by a three-run shot to left by Foster.
• The visitors added three more runs in the fifth, with Foster recording two more RBI on a double to center. After four and a half innings AUM led 18-0.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE – GAME ONE
• The Warhawks scored 18 runs on 11 hits with one error.
• Miles was held scoreless on two hits with three errors.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME TWO
• Game two saw Foster hit her second home run of the day in the top of the first, blasting a two-run shot to left to give the Orange & Black a 2-0 lead. After an error allowed Duschell to score from third, the Warhawks executed another double steal with Krueger stealing home to give the visitors a 4-0 lead.
• With runners at first and third, another double steal in the top of the third brought Thompson home, followed by a double by
Savanna Holmes with a runner on second gave AUM a 6-0 lead heading to the bottom of the frame.
• Miles got on the board in the bottom of the third, scoring on a ground out with a runner on third to cut the Golden Bears deficit to 6-1.
• The Warhawks were held scoreless over the next three innings before Walker hit her second home run of the day in the top of the seventh, a three-run shot to center that gave her squad a 9-1 lead.

• The Warhawks scored nine runs on nine hits with no errors.
• The Golden Bears scored one run on one hits while committing three errors.
