#30 Warhawks To Host #18 Valdosta State, #41 Lee In Conference Action

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn University at Montgomery men's tennis team, ranked 30th in the nation in the latest ITA/Oracle National poll, will play host to some of the best teams the Gulf South Conference has to offer as they take their five-match win streak against two of the top four teams in the GSC.

About the Warhawks
The Warhawks (9-5, 4-1 GSC) are in the middle of a season-high, five-match win streak and have won six of their last eight matches overall. The Warhawks have surrendered just one set in their last three matches and are 2-1 in their last three home matches.
 
AUM has once again climbed the national polls, jumping one spot to #30 in the latest ITA rankings. Alvaro Terron jumps 15 spots to a #19 national ranking in singles play, while teammate Eban Straker Meads reenters the top-75 at #52.
 
Terron's presence in the polls does not end in singles play. He, along with Jose Garcia, enter the spotlight ranked #30 as a doubles pair.
 
Giovanni Bellio will enter his match with the Blazers on a three-match winning streak and is 5-4 in his last nine matches. Bellio will also enter the match with Valdosta State winning his previous doubles match.
 
All seven players on the roster have won at least two-straight matches in singles play, and as a team, AUM will enter the week with a 48-31 record in singles competition.  
 
About the Blazers
#18 Valdosta State (8-3, 6-0 GSC) will head to Montgomery in first place in the GSC with a perfect 6-0 record. The Blazers dropped their first three matches of the season to #23 Georgia College, #1 Columbus State and #2 Barry but have won every match since.
 
Jordi Mas is the only Blazer who is ranked in the top-75 in singles play. Entering his match with the Warhawks, Mas is ranked #10 and is 13-6 in the first slot in 2019. In his last ten matches, Mas is 6-2, including an 8-2 mark in conference play.  
 
Despite the team's impressive record, Valdosta State does not have a doubles pairing ranked in the latest ITA polls. As a team, the Blazers own a 44-22 record and are 27-9 in conference play this year.

About the Flames
#41 Lee (14-4, 5-3 GSC) are winners of 11 of their last 12, with their only loss in that span coming against Valdosta State on March 17. The Flames currently sit in fourth place in the GSC, one game behind the Warhawks.
 
Leading the way in singles play for the Flames is Jesus Garcia. Garcia has split time between the first and second position for Lee and has an overall record of 12-2. He also has had the same success in doubles play this season, netting 12 more wins.  
 
Lee figures to be a formidable foe in doubles competition, sporting an overall record of 31-9 and an 8-4 mark in GSC play. Cristian Pons and Garcia share the team lead with 12 wins each and have a combined record of 6-4.
