MONTGOMERY, Ala. --- The Auburn Montgomery baseball claimed a two-games to one series victory over the Wolves of the University of West Georgia with a doubleheader split on Saturday, April 13 in Gulf South Conference action.
NOTES
- The Warhawks dropped game one 14-1, and won game two 9-8 to claim the series.
- With the completion of the series, the Warhawk's record now sits at 21-20 overall, and 11-13 in GSC play.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS

Harrison Morris (2-0) earned the win on the mound for AUM in game two, while also racking up a team-high two hits on the day and scoring two runs. The senior reliever allowed no runs on just two hits, while striking out one, and upped his current hitting streak to 11 games.

Matthew Zielonko drove in a team-high four runs on the day, with all four RBI coming in game two. Zielonko clubbed his team-leading seventh home run of the year in game two of the twinbill.

Grayson Blackwell,
Jonathan Brandt and
Dalton Cobb all drove in a pair of runs on the afternoon, with Blackwell and Brandt also logging a pair of hits on the day.

Quinterrious Arrington also picked up two hits on the day, with a hit in each ballgame. Arrington scored a run in game two and stole a base, which upped his season total to 30 and makes him just the eighth player in AUM baseball history to steal 30 bases in a single season.

Hayden Friesen scored two runs in game two and knocked a hit in game one, while
Kyle Khoury added a run and a hit in game two.

Aaron Hill allowed just one run over three innings of relief in game two, while striking out six and walking just one.
HOW IT HAPPENED GAME ONE
- The Wolves jumped on AUM early in game one, with a run in both the first and third innings to lead 2-0 through three.
- West Georgia would break out for nine runs in inning number four, sending 15 batters to the plate and collecting six hits, while also taking advantage of four base on balls from AUM pitching in the frame.
- After seeing West Georgia add two more runs to lead 13-0, AUM would finally crack the scoreboard in the bottom of the sixth, courtesy of an RBI double from Brandt to bring home Friesen. Friesen doubled to left field one batter earlier to set up the RBI opportunity for Brandt.
- West Georgia would add one more run in the top of he seventh, before giving way to the 14-1 final.
INSIDE THE BOXSORE GAME ONE
- AUM was outhit by West Georgia in game one, 14-5.
- The Warhawks left six runners on base in the game, while the AUM pitching staff stranded 10 Wolf baserunners.
HOW IT HAPPENED GAME TWO
- West Georgia once again was able to score first in the game, bringing one across the plate in their first at-bat of the game in game two via a sacrifice fly.
- AUM would respond in their next at-bat, however, with a four-spot to claim the lead at 4-1. After leadoff walks by Arrington and Morris, Zielonko would bring everyone home with a three-run shot to left field. Blackwell would plate Friesen a few batters later, who reached base via a walk, for the Warhawk's fourth run of the inning.
- UWG would snag a pair of unearned runs in the top of the second, but AUM would once again respond with four runs their next time up. The Warhawks pushed across their four runs in the inning on an RBI hit-by-pitch from Zielonko, an RBI single from Brandt to left center, and sacrifice flies from Blackwell and Cobb.
- West Georgia would rebuttal in their next at-bat in the top of the third though, with four runs on three hits and one AUM error to make it an 8-7 ballgame.
- UWG would go on to tie the game up in the top of the seventh courtesy of a one-out knock through the right side.
- With two away in the bottom of the sixth, Cobb would bring home pinch-runner
Ryan Burkett for the the go-ahead run on an RBI double down the left field line. Blackwell singled through the left side one batter prior, before being pinch ran for by R. Burkett.
- The Wolves would get the tying run to third base in the top of the seventh with two down, but Morris would leave him stranded with a strikeout to end the game.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE GAME TWO
- Both teams tallied eight hits in game number two.
- Zielnoko's four RBI in game two marked for his first four-RBI game of 2019, and his team-leading 15th multi-RBI game on the season.
- The AUM pitching staff did not walk or hit a batter after the fourth inning of game two, while giving up just three hits over the final four frames.
