Baseball Shuts Out Albany State in Final Midweek Game of Season, 2-0

MONTGOMERY, Ala. --- The Auburn Montgomery baseball team used a solid 6.2 inning performance from starting pitcher Micah Henderson, and home runs from Dalton Cobb and Matthew Zielonko, to pick up a 2-0 midweek win over the Golden Rams of Albany State University on Tuesday, April 23 from the AUM Baseball Complex.

NOTES
- With the win, the Warhawks move to 25-21 on the year, which clinches them a winning record for the 2019 season.
- The victory also marks for AUM's third shutout of the season, and improves their all-time record against Albany State to 5-1.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
- Cobb launched his team-leading ninth home run of the season in the contest, while also making it five games in a row in which he has went yard. Cobb finished the day with two hits, a run scored and an RBI.
- Zielonko also homered in the contest, pushing his season total to eight. Zielonko also drew a walk in the game.
- Hayden Friesen drew a game-high two bases on balls, while also accounting for a double in the victory.
- Grayson Blackwell also added a hit for the Orange and Black.
- M. Henderson (4-2) notched his team-leading fourth win on the season on the mound, tossing a career-high 6.2 innings and striking out a career-high four batters. The junior righty induced 10 ground outs, while throwing just 78 pitches.
- Harrison Morris (2) picked up the save for AUM. The senior reliever tossed the final 2.1 innings of the game, striking out four and surrendering just one hit over his outing.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Albany State put the first two batters of the game on base, but a timely 4-6-3 double play would help M. Henderson and the Warhawks escape inning number one unscathed.
- The Golden Rams would once again get runners into scoring position with less than two away, this time in inning number two when a leadoff double and an unassisted groundout to first would give Albany State a runner at third with only one out. The Warhawks would catch him leaning on a ground ball to the pitcher, however, for the second out of the frame, and would get out of the jam unharmed.
- Zielonko would give AUM the lead in the bottom of the fourth, with his towering blast to left with one away to put the Warhawks up 1-0.
- With two outs and runners at first and third in the fifth, the Warhawks would use a snap throw-behind by catcher Zach Feaster to catch an ASU runner napping, and record the inning's final out to get out of another jam.
- Cobb's team-leading ninth home run of the season would come in inning number eight to leadoff the frame, and would give the Warhawks enough breathing room to cruise their way to the 2-0 win.
