Warhawks Split Midweek Matchup With Spring Hill

MOBILE, Ala. – In the final midweek matchup of the season for the Auburn University at Montgomery softball team split a doubleheader with Spring Hill College on Wednesday afternoon, winning game one 14-0 before dropping game two 4-3 at Murray Field on the campus of the Badgers.
 
NOTES
- AUM moves to 40-12 on the year overall.
- SHC moves to 26-19 this season.
- The Warhawks move to 13-10 lifetime against the Badgers and 2-1 this season.
 
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
- Junior catcher Abby Krueger went 3-for-5 at the plate with four runs scored and three runs batted in. Krueger tallied a home run and a double with a walk and a hit by pitch.
- Freshman Olivia Aycock went 4-for-9 with three RBI and a run scored. She also recorded nine putouts, two assists and a stolen base.
- Sophomore Cydney Sizemore picked up the victory in game one, improving to 3-0 after allowing only one hit over 2.2 innings with three strikeouts to her credit.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME ONE
- Krueger drove in the game's first runs in the top of the second when she homered to left with Michaelyn Foster at second base to put the visitors up 2-0.
- The Warhawks would explode for five runs in the top of the sixth, highlighted by a Gracie Poe two-RBI double. After six AUM led 7-0.
- AUM would tally seven more runs in the top of the seventh, this time highlighted by a Hannah Dailey two-RBI double down the leftfield line. Heading to the bottom of the frame the Warhawks led 14-0.
 
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE – GAME ONE
- The Warhawks scored 14 runs on 11 hits with no errors.
- The Badgers were held scoreless on two hits while committing two errors.
- SHC's Morgan Kramer was credited with the loss, falling to 4-2 this season.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME TWO
- Game two saw the Orange & Black take a 1-0 lead in the first on a Jaycie Walker sacrifice fly to centerfield that plated Aycock from third.
- SHC tied the game in the bottom of the second when Carlisle Jamison doubled to left-center to tie the game at 1-1. The Badgers then took a 2-1 lead on a Kramer sacrifice fly to right that allowed Jamison to score from third.
- AUM tied the game in the top of the fifth when Savanna Holmes hit a pinch hit single to left to score Krueger from second.
- The Badgers' Hannah Fillmore bashed a two-run home run down the leftfield line in the bottom of the sixth to take a 4-2 advantage heading to the final inning.
- With one out on the board Kendall Tucker hit a double to left-center to put a runner in scoring position for the Warhawks. After an infield pop out Aycock slapped a single to left to plate Tucker and cut the deficit to 4-3. Morgan Duschell then came to the plate and hit a rocket to the right side of the infield that was caught by a diving Delaney Thomas at second base to end the contest.
 
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE – GAME TWO
- AUM scored three runs on seven hits with one error.
- SHC scored four runs on five hits with one error.
- Chanel Newcomer was credited with the loss in relief, allowing two runs on one hit in 2.0 innings of work.
- Hannah Brenton picked up the win to improve to 12-5 this season. Brenton allowed three runs on seven hits with four K's.
