MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Playing in their final game at Auburn University at Montgomery seniors
Natalie Johnsey and
Jasmine Thompson helped the Warhawks extinguish the Flames Sunday afternoon, as the Orange & Black notched an 8-1 victory to complete the series sweep of Lee University in Gulf South Conference play.
NOTES
- AUM improves to 43-12 on the season with a 20-9 mark in the GSC.
- Lee falls to 22-31 overall and 10-19 in league play.
- The Warhawks are now 7-9 lifetime against the Flames.
- The 43 win on the year are the most for the Orange & Black since the 2016 season when they recorded a school record 53.
- The Warhawks finish 2019 in third place in the GSC standings.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
- Johnsey improved to 6-2 on the season, allowing only one run (unearned) on three hits with three walks and four strikeouts.
- Thompson went 3-for-3 at the plate with a double and two runs scored. She also recorded the final out of the game by catching a shallow fly to left.
- Freshman
Olivia Aycock went 2-for-3 at the plate with two runs scored and a career-high two runs batted in.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Lee scored the game's first run in the top of the first, going up 1-0 on an Abby McKinney double to centerfield that scored Kayla Louie from second.
- AUM would respond in the bottom of the first, tying the game on an infield error by the Flames that allowed Aycock to score from second.
Michaelyn Foster then doubled to left to plate
Jaycie Walker from first, giving the home team a 2-1 advantage. After
Morgan Duschell sacrificed Foster to third Savannah Holmes delivered a double to left-center to score Foster.
Abby Krueger then doubled to right to score Holmes and put the Warhawks up 4-1 after one inning.
- Thompson led off the second with a double to left-center and then scored on a throwing error on an Aycock single to left that gave the Orange & Black a 5-1 lead.
- Aycock would come to the plate with runners at second and third in the bottom of the fifth and delivered a slap single up the middle to scored a pair of runners.
Parker Pinholster then smashed a triple to right-center to score Aycock and give the home team an 8-1 lead.
- The Flames would be unable to plate any more runs the rest of the way, giving the home squad a seven-run victory.

- The Warhawks scored eight runs on 11 hits with one error.
- The Flames scored one run on three hits with three errors.
- Shonna Penney was credited with the loss to fall to 10-17 on the season. Penney allowed eight runs (five earned) on 11 hits with three walks.
