Baseball Sweeps Saturday Twinbill Against Christian Brothers

MONTGOMERY, Ala. --- The Auburn Montgomery baseball team pounded out 19 runs over two games and got complete-game efforts from pitchers Micah Henderson and Troy Jones to secure a doubleheader sweep of Christian Brothers University in Gulf South Conference play on Saturday, Feb. 15.

NOTES

- With the wins, AUM improves to 3-6 overall, and 2-0 in GSC play.
- Before game one, a pregame ceremony took place for the unveiling of Q.V. Lowe Field.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS GAME ONE
Dalton Cobb drove in a team-high three runs in game one on two hits, highlighted by a three-RBI triple.
- Zach Feaster knocked a team-best three hits, while also scoring a run.
- Matthew Marfice accounted for a pair of RBI while scoring twice.
- Joseph Hartsfield scored a game-high two runs, while also adding a hit and an RBI.
- M. Henderson (2-0) allowed no runs on just three hits while fanning three batters in seven innings of work.

HOW IT HAPPENED GAME ONE
- The Warhawks broke the scoreless tie in the second inning when a CBU error allowed Hartsfield to score the game's first run, and a Bailey Mosley single up the middle a few batters later made it 2-0.
- AUM added four more runs in the third to take a 6-0 lead. A Hartsfield RBI single, a Marfice two-RBI double to left and a Sage Smelley single up the middle accounted for the damage in the inning.
- After adding a run on an RBI double by Arrington in the fourth to make it 7-0, Cobb delivered the game's final blow with a three-run triple to right field to give AUM a 10-0 lead in the seventh and secure the run-rule victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED GAME TWO
- The Buccaneers drew first blood in game two, with a two-run bomb in the first to grab an early 2-0 advantage.
- AUM responded with a pair of runs in the first, however, to make it a 2-2 game. The Warhawks took advantage of a CBU fielding error and wild pitch to tally their two in the first.
- After seeing the Bucs retake the lead in the second on an RBI single up the middle, AUM once again responded their next time up with a run to make it 3-3. Arrington showcased his speed on a CBU wild pitch, scoring from second base to knot the game up in the second.
- The Warhawks broke the game open in inning number five by hanging up a five-spot. Arrington delivered the big blow in the inning with a three-run triple to right-center to put AUM up 7-3.
