Men’s Basketball Falls to #14 Flagler

lDAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Auburn Montgomery Men's Basketball Team dropped a 78-58 decision to #14 Flagler College on Friday, Nov. 19 in game one of the Bahama House Shootout, hosted by Embry-Riddle.
 
With the loss, AUM's record sits at 1-2 three games into the year.
 
Isaiah Hart and Sam Youngblood both led AUM with 14 points each. Hart accounted for a team-high five assists while Youngblood added a pair of rebounds.
 
Jeremiah Bozeman led the Warhawks with six rebounds while also scoring seven points. Gilbert Croley registered seven points and four rebounds while James Graham logged six points and three boards.
 
AUM took a 12-10 lead into the first media timeout after successfully knocking down their first five shots from the floor, with Youngblood and Hart accounting for four points each over that span.
 
A pair of Hart free throws at the 8:06 mark put AUM up 22-21, followed by a quick 5-0 run by Flagler to put them on top 26-22 with 7:00 minutes to go until the break.
 
The Warhawks fought back to make it a 28-26 game at the 5:57 mark in favor of Flagler, but the Saints would go on to close out the period on a 13-5 scoring run and take a 41-31 lead into halftime.
 
Flagler opened up the second half by scoring seven of the first nine points to take a 49-33 lead at the 18:18 mark, followed by a 15-6 run to take a 61-39 lead with 10:11 left to play. The Saints edged AUM 20-19 the rest of the way, taking their largest lead at the 2:31 mark before giving way to the 78-58 final.
 
AUM shot just under 35 percent (17-49) for the game, with the Saints finishing at 47 percent (30-63) for the evening. The Warhawks took a season-high 41 free throw attempts in the contest, but were only able to successfully convert on 21 of them for an average of 51 percent.
 
The Warhawks finished the game with 20 points off of Saint turnovers, 18 points in the paint, 18 second-chance points, and 13 bench points. Flagler out-rebounded AUM on the night, 44-33.
 
The men's basketball team will return to the hardwood on Saturday, Nov. 20 for their second and final contest in the Bahama House Shootout against host school #11 Embry-Riddle. Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m. (CST).
