Warhawks Handle Carver In 94-39 Home Win

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn University at Montgomery women's basketball team earned a commanding 94-39 victory over NCCAA affiliate Carver College at home on Tuesday night in their first home game of the season.

The Warhawks improve to 2-1 to start the season and are now undefeated at home to begin the year. AUM used 14 different scorers in their victory over the Cougars. Every player who logged at least a minute for AUM registered a point.

Jordan Brewster led the offensive charge for the Warhawks in the win. She led both teams with 17 points and was one of three players to register at least 10 points in the contest.

Freshman Kailyn Farrell led the team with six rebounds, while Jamya Tyus stuffed the stat sheet with 14 points and a game-high seven assists.

AUM hopped on the Cougars early in the first quarter, leading 7-0 before three full minutes had passed in the game. Allasha Dudley hit her first 3-pointer of the game at the 6:11 mark to run the score to 14-2, and it would propel the Warhawks to a 28-point first quarter to lead 28-11.

The Warhawks were slower out of the gate in the second quarter but still was able to work around Carver's defense. Four points from Tyus in the first five minutes of the second quarter saw AUM leading 32-13 halfway through the period. Monika Johnson got in on the fun in the second quarter, aiding the Warhawks to a 47-19 halftime lead.

A strong run from the Warhawk offense helped AUM to a 61-23 lead at the first media timeout in the third quarter. Farrell's defense cemented a dominant third quarter for the Warhawks, as AUM took a 79-30 lead into the fourth.

The Warhawks used a freshman-laden team throughout the entirety of the fourth quarter to outscore to put the game to rest, allowing all 14 players to score and to win their second game in a row by a score of 94-39.

AUM will continue their three-game homestand on Saturday, November 27, when they host Peach Belt foe Georgia College. The action from the AUM Gymnasium is scheduled for 12 p.m.
