Women’s Basketball Falls At Home to Lee

MONTGOMERY, Ala. The Auburn University at Montgomery women's basketball team fell at home to Gulf South Conference foe Lee on Friday afternoon 78-39.

AUM falls to 2-11 on the year while the Lady Flames climb to 11-6 on the year and will be the #3 seed in the upcoming GSC playoffs.

"All the credit to Lee University," said head coach Sean Page. "They came out and played great tonight, they were super physical with us. They forced us to do anything they wanted us to do. They showed that they are on another level than we are and unless something miraculous happens, it's going to be the same result."

AUM was burned by the Lady Flames early in the first quarter as the Warhawks struggled to find an answer for Lee's offense. Lee had already established an 11-2 lead after six minutes of play and they would ride their hot streak into the second quarter when they found themselves leading 21-9.

Alexia Wallace did her best to keep the Warhawks in the game to end the first half, but the Lady Flames continued their hot offensive pursuit to take a 43-19 lead going into the halftime break.

The Warhawks would find their offensive groove in the middle stages of the third quarter, going on a 10-0 run of their own to cut the lead to 20, but the Lady Flames continued to keep their distance from AUM, establishing a 22-point lead after three quarters of play. AUM was not able to get much offense in the fourth quarter, netting just six points letting Lee cruise to a 78-39 victory.

The Warhawks will close out the season tomorrow afternoon at 4 p.m. at the AUM Gymnasium when they will play the second of a two-game series against Gulf South Conference foe Lee.
