MONTGOMERY, Ala. – In a match that was decided in the last court, the No. 16-ranked Auburn University at Montgomery men's tennis team took down fifth-seeded West Alabama for the team's first Gulf South Conference postseason win.
The Warhawks beat the Tigers for the second time this season and capture the program's first postseason win.
The doubles point set the tone for the remainder of the match. The two teams split the first and third courts, leaving the number two court to decide which team came away with the early lead. With the pressure on,
Muhamad Bedwan and
Francisco Jimenez were able to secure a 7-6 win to give AUM a 1-0 lead.
Singles play went back and forth as the afternoon progressed, and the match would eventually come down to the team who could take the victory in the third court.
Joao Guariente had split the first two games with his opponent, but he was able to emerge victorious with a 6-4 win to give the Warhawks the win.

The Warhawks advance to the GSC Semifinals for the first time in program history and will face the top-seeded Valdosta State Blazers at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow. The Warhawks fell to then-ranked No. 15 VSU at home back on February 26.
