MOBILE, Ala.. –The Auburn Montgomery men's soccer team erased a 2-0 deficit by scoring a pair of second-half goals, but ultimately fell 3-2 in overtime to the University of Mobile Rams on Sunday, Sept. 26.
The loss drops AUM's record to 4-2-1 overall.
After conceding goals in the 11th and 55th minutes of the match to the #6 Rams of the NAIA, the Warhawks got their first of two second-half goals in minute number 62 from
Andrew Elkins.
Hamza Sadiq helped set up the score.
The Warhawks found the equalizer in the game's final seconds, as a shot from
Glenn Waters found the back of the net with just five seconds remaining to make it a 2-2 game.
Ben Alram provided the assist on the score.
The Rams would go on to punch in the game winner in 105th minute.
The Warhawks outshot Mobile 11-6 in the contest, with eight shots on goal to the Ram's four. AUM took 11 corners in the contest, compared to just four from Mobile.
In goal,
Pedro Campos (0-1-0) took the loss in his first start of the 2021 season. Campos was credited with one save in the setback.
The men's soccer team will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 2 when they take on Gulf South Conference foe Lee University in Cleveland, Tenn. Match time is slated for 6:00 p.m.
