Brewster Goes For 21 In Loss To #18 Union

JACKSON, Tenn. – Auburn University at Montgomery women's basketball senior guard scored a season-high 21 points in a loss to Gulf South Conference foe, and No. 18 ranked Union on Saturday night 67-82.

The Warhawks drop to 5-8 on the year and remain winless in conference action in seven attempts. Union maintains their position at the top of the GSC with their eighth-straight Gulf South win and moves to 13-2 overall.

Brewster led the Warhawks in scoring against the Bulldogs with 21, while freshman Allasha Dudley (17) and Tamia Willingham-King (13) were also in double figures. Jamya Tyus, Gracie Lee, and Monika Johnson split the team lead in rebounds with four.

The Lady Bulldogs jumped on the Warhawks early with nine-straight points and an early 11-2 lead in the first quarter. AUM responded with stellar 3-point shooting to cut the Union lead down to 13-10, but the Lady Bulldogs ended the first period strongly and led 22-12 after 10 minutes of play.

Union's hot start to the game continued to begin the second quarter as they found themselves leading 36-17 after a 3-pointer after the first media timeout of the period. Triples from Willingham-King and Brewster aided the Warhawks scoring efforts in the second frame, but Union would maintain a 20-point lead after two quarters of action.

AUM was unable to contain the Union offense in the third quarter, as the Lady Bulldogs stretched its lead out to 30 halfway through the third quarter. Brewster and Dudley would be the majority of the Warhawk offense in the third, but Union kept hold of their big lead after 30 minutes of play.

AUM found their groove in the third quarter, scoring 27 points and outscoring the Lady Bulldogs 27-13, but it wasn't enough to keep Union from taking their eighth consecutive conference game as the Lady Bulldogs came away with an 82-67 win.

The Warhawks' next contest is scheduled for Wednesday, January 19, when they will play West Georgia for their second straight GSC road game. The action from Carrollton is slated to begin at 4:30 p.m.
