Women’s Basketball Bests Lady Bucs at Home, 86-72

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Four Warhawks scored in double figures as the Auburn Montgomery Women's Basketball Team was able to cruise its way to an 86-72 victory over Christian Brothers University on Thursday, Jan. 27 in Gulf South Conference play.
 
The win improves AUM's record to 6-9 overall and 1-8 in GSC action.
 
Catlin Carter led AUM with a game-high 22 points on a 9-13 shooting night. The senior guard additionally hauled in six rebounds and dished out a pair of assists.
 
Allasha Dudley and DeMaurea Moore both scored 14 on the night, with Moore pulling down a team-best nine rebounds and Dudley distributing five assists with six boards.
 
Jordan Brewster added 12 points on a 3-6 shooting performance from three. Brewster needs just 22 more points to eclipse the 1,000-point plateau for her career at AUM.
 
Quarter one saw AUM outscore CBU 25-16, with the Warhawks sinking 10 of their first 19 shots. Dudley served as a spark plug for the Warhawks in the first with an 11-point period.
 
Both teams shot the ball well in period number two, with AUM edging CBU in points 21-19. The Lady Bucs got back to within three points at the 2:43 mark, but AUM would go on to outscore them 7-3 for the remainder of the period to lead 44-37 at halftime.
 
Brewster led the charge for AUM in the third quarter with eight points and a pair of crucial treys to help AUM outscore CBU 22-20. The Lady Bucs cut AUM's lead to just 60-55 at the 1:33 mark in the period, but threes from Brewster and Monika Johnson on back-to-back possessions expanded AUM's lead to 66-55.
 
Carter went on to score 12 of AUM's final 20 points in the fourth, a period in which the Warhawks shot 7-12 on field goals and outscored CBU 20-15. AUM's offensive firepower in the fourth helped them hold a double-digit lead for the period's entirety en route to the 86-72 final score.
 
AUM shot a season-best 55 percent (31-56) from the floor in the win while knocking down 10 of 20 threes and 14 of 20 shots from the charity stripe. The Warhawks additionally tallied 40 points in the paint, 22 bench points, and 13 points off of CBU turnovers.
 
The Warhawks will be back in action on Monday, Jan. 31 when they host Mississippi College at 6:00 p.m. from the AUM Gymnasium.
