MONTGOMERY, Ala. —- The Auburn University at Montgomery volleyball team won the first set in its match against the University of Alabama in Huntsville but could not hold on, as it dropped a 3-1 decision Saturday at the AUM Gymnasium.
Ylenia De Mango led all players with 13 kills, while
Roberta Monticelli led the Warhawks with 17 digs.
Reann Cato chipped in 16 digs.
Kyla Ffrench finished with seven kills, a solo block and six block assists in the contest.

HIGHLIGHTS
- AUM raced out to a 5-1 lead and used a 4-0 spurt midway through the set to extend its advantage to 14-8. During the run, Giulia Santuari registered a pair of kills, while Ffrench added her first kill of the match. The Chargers closed the deficit to 14-12 with four straight points, but the Warhawks countered with a 9-3 run, capped by kills by Ffrench and De Mango. Monticelli closed the set with a kill to give AUM a 1-0 advantage in the match.
- The Warhawks jumped out to an 8-4 advantage, behind two kills from both Santuari and Kendall McCain, as well as a trio of Charger attack errors. UAH rallied and tied the score at 11-11 on a kill by Paris Morris, before AUM pulled ahead 16-13. However, the Chargers closed the set with a 12-2 run and evened the match at a set apiece.
- The third set featured back-and-forth action, with neither team earning more than a four-point lead midway through the stanza. Trailing 17-13, the Warhawks used four straight points, capped by an ace by Alessia Cappai, to tie the score late. AUM took a 20-18 advantage on a kill by Santuari and held a 24-22 advantage on a Cappai kill. Despite facing set point, the Chargers rattled off four consecutive points, capped by consecutive kills by Gracie McGee to take set three and a 2-1 lead in the match.
- The Chargers pushed ahead early in the fourth set, scoring 10 of the first 12 points and never looked back. AUM closed the margin to as few as five points, 12-7, following a kill by Dariona Dash, before ultimately falling by a 25-13 score.
STATS OF THE MATCH
- The Warhawks finished with a season-high 16 block assists, two more than the 14 they registered against West Georgia on Sept. 13.
- AUM committed 12 reception errors, while converted just three service aces.
- The Warhawks hit just .109 as a team, their fourth-lowest percentage of the season.
- Dash finished with five kills, a season-best seven digs and a block assist.
- Brynne Hopeau-Lampitoc registered 10 digs, marking the eighth time this season she tallied double figures.
- Savannah Sebek recorded eight digs and 14 assists on the afternoon.
- Caroline Moyer led the Chargers with 10 kills.
- Shayla Libby posted a match-high 28 digs, leading four Chargers in double figures.

The Warhawks will look to bounce back on Tuesday, Oct. 4, when they travel to Montevallo for a 6 p.m. contest.
