Volleyball Bested by Union 3-0 in GSC Play

JACKSON, Tenn. -  The Auburn University at Montgomery volleyball team suffered a 3-0 loss at Union University on Saturday afternoon in Gulf South Conference competition inside Fred DeLay Gymnasium.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • AUM trailed 17-13 and Union used a 7-0 run to push the lead to 24-13 and the Warhawks scored four points in a row before Union clinched set one 25-17. 
  • The second set was back-and-forth with AUM jumping to a 9-3 lead. Union battled back and with the set tied 22-22, the Lady Bulldogs rolled off three points in a row to take set two 25-22. 
  • Union scored the first eight points in the third set and AUM cut the lead to six points, but Union powered their way to clinch the match in the third set 25-16. 
STATS OF THE MATCH
  • Amber Bretwisch dished out 12 assists and recorded nine digs. 
  • Ylenia De Mango had eight kills and 17 total attacks. De Mango has 239 kills on the season. 
  • Kendall McCain and Alessia Cappai tallied seven kills each and 10 digs together. 
  • Reann Cato had 12 digs and has brought her season total to 174. 
  • Savannah Sebek added 10 assists. 
  • The Lady Bulldogs outscored the Warhawks 60-40. 
  • Union's Sidney Hegg delivered 12 kills.

  • "Union outplayed uys. They played consistent and we did not. Our passers struggled during the entire match, which makes it more difficult to execute the game plan," head volleyball coach Flavia Siqueira said.
