Volleyball Picks Up GSC Win Over UAH

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. -  The Auburn University at Montgomery volleyball team picked up a 3-1 victory over The University of Alabama in Huntsville on Tuesday night inside Spragins Hall in Gulf South Conference play. 
 
The Warhawks dropped the first set and then won the next three sets to come up victorious behind solid performances from Ylenia De Mango and Alessia Cappai.

Score:  AUM 3, UAH 1 (20-25, 25-18, 25-21, 25-22)

HIGHLIGHTS
  • UAH scored the first four points in set one and jumped to a 13-5 lead. The Warhawks used a few runs and ended up dropping the first set 25-20. 
  • AUM battled back and led the entire way in the second set, ultimately winning it 25-18 and evening the match at 1-1. 
  • The Warhawks jumped to a 5-0 lead and pushed the lead to a 20-11 lead. The Chargers put together two 4-0 runs before Santuari Giulia ended the set on a kill. AUM won the third set 25-21 and held a 2-1 lead. 
  • The fourth set was a set-of-runs as AUM held a 15-9 lead and UAH rallied on a 6-0 run to even the set at 15-15. UAH held a 20-19 lead and AUM rolled off a 5-0 run and eventually won the set 25-22 and clinched the match.

"I am pleased with the fact our players were able to get focused after losing the first set," head volleyball coach Flavia Siqueira said. "Our middles played a very important role in our win offensively and defensively."
