Anderson Scores 26 in Men's Basketball Win Over Shorter

ROME, Ga. – The Auburn University at Montgomery men's basketball team took down the Shorter University Hawks on Monday night 74-58 in Gulf South Conference action inside the Winthrop-King Centre. 
 
Travis Anderson scored a season-high of 26 points and James Graham tied his season-high of 19 points.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Anderson opened the game up with back-to-back made two-pointers to give AUM a 4-0 advantage in the early stages of the game. Shorter responded with a layup to start the scoring for the Hawks. 
  • Graham made a shot from beyond the arc at the 11:58 mark in the first half and gave AUM a 15-9 lead. 
  • Gilbert Croley made a layup to put AUM up 11 points with just over five minutes left on the clock before halftime. 
  • Graham made a layup in the closing seconds of the first half to send the Warhawks into halftime up 36-28. 
  • Shorter cut the lead to two points at 38-36 with 17:13 remaining on the clock however that was the closest they would get as the Warhawks responded with an 11-2 run to take full control of the second half. 
  • The AUM defense did not allow Shorter to score in the final 3:31 of the game. AUM closed the game on a 9-0 run to capture their first GSC victory of the season. 
NOTABLES
  • Anderson was 9-of-16 from the field and shot 4-of-7 from deep in 34 minutes of action. Defensively he had three steals. 
  • Graham was 7-of-12 from the field and 4-of-5 from the charity stripe. 
  • Jalen Gaston, Sam Youngblood, and Joseph Lanzi played for the entire 40 minutes of the game and combined for 22 points. Lanzi had 10 rebounds and Gaston collected eight boards. 
  • AUM outrebounded the Hawks 37-27 and scored 38 points in the paint. 
  • The Warhawks shot the ball 10-of-12 from the free-throw line. 
  • AUM had their season-low of turnovers at five. The five turnovers are the least amount since February 3, 2018, when the Warhawks had just four turnovers.

AUM will host Delta State University on Friday night inside the AUM Athletics Complex. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m.
