Four Double-Figure Scorers Key Men's Basketball Win Over Delta State

MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- The Auburn University at Montgomery men's basketball team knocked down a season-high 12 three-pointers, got 19 points from Jalen Gaston, and had four players score in double figures as the Warhawks earned a 74-66 win over Delta State University.

Gaston led AUM with 19 points and went a perfect 5-for-5 from three-point territory. Sam Youngblood added 16 points, Travis Anderson posted 14 points, and James Graham totaled 12 points for the Warhawks.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Delta State's Maalik Catwright scored 12 of his team's first 25 points, while Sam Smith added 10 points in that same stretch as the Statesmen led 25-18 at the 9:08 mark of the first half. 
  • Baskets by Graham, Anderson, and Roderick Smith tied the game at 25-25, and the Warhawks continued to keep their foot on the gas pedal.
  • Jalen Gaston rattled off 11-0 straight points for AUM, including a trio of three-pointers and a layup, as the Warhawks opened up a 36-27 lead.
  • DSU's Braxton Gibbs rattled off five points at the end of the half to trim the AUM lead to 38-35 at the halftime intermission.
  • The Warhawks pushed out to the team's largest lead of the night, 49-37, on a steal and a fast break dunk by Sam Youngblood with 15:57 remaining. 
  • AUM continued to knock down three-pointers, as Gaston and Anderson each nailed three-point jumpers to help the Warhawks punctuate the win.
NOTABLES
  • In his best shooting performance of the season, Gaston scored 19 points and went 7-of-12 from the floor. He added a 5-of-5 mark from beyond the three-point line and chipped in four rebounds, one assist, and one steal.
  • AUM out-rebounded Delta State 29-27, which marked the fifth time this season AUM has out-rebounded an opponent. 
  • Graham shot 6-for-8 from the floor and scored his 12 points in 15 minutes off the bench.
  • Anderson added three rebounds, two assists, and two steals, while Youngblood and Deven Tucker led the team with five rebounds each.
  • The Warhawks shot 55 percent from three-point range (12-of-22) in knocking down a season-high 12 three-pointers.
  • Sam Smith had 20 points, eight rebounds, and three assists to lead Delta State.

The Warhawks remain at home and face off against Mississippi College on Sunday, Dec. 4 at 4 p.m.
