Men's Basketball Picks Up Victory at Georgia College

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Auburn University at Montgomery men's basketball team took down Georgia College 67-64 Thursday afternoon in a physical battle inside the Centennial Center in a nonconference game. 
 
The Warhawks went 17-of-22 from the charity stripe and made 5-of-7 in the final 30 seconds of the game to help seal the victory for AUM.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Deven Tucker got things going for the AUM offense with a made jumper and a dunk two possessions later to give the Warhawks an early 6-3 lead at the 17:43 mark in the first half. 
  • Georgia College responded with made shots and took an eight-point lead with just under 11 minutes in the first half. 
  • The Bobcats lead the entire first half until James Graham blocked a shot and Joseph Lanzi scored a layup as time expired in the first half. The two teams went into halftime knotted up at 32.
  • AUM came out in the second half and outscored GC 14-7 before the first media timeout to take a 46-39 lead with 14:49 left in the game. 
  • Georgia College's Richard Crawford made a three-pointer and Brendan Rigsbee made a layup to bring the Bobcats back into the game with 1:34 left on the clock. AUM held a 59-57 lead.  
  • Jalen Gaston made a three-pointer, and a foul was called on the attempted rebound which sent GC to the line. Crawford went 1-of-2 and a possession later GC's Austin Sloan made a triple to bring them within one. 
  • It became a game of free throws with the Warhawks making 5-of-7 down the stretch to help capture the sixth victory of the season for AUM. 
NOTABLES
  • Travis Anderson scored 17 points with nine points coming at the free-throw line. 
  • Joseph Lanzi scored 15 points and secured five rebounds. He was 6-of-11 from the field including 2-of-3 from beyond the arc. 
  • James Graham scored 12 points and brought down seven boards. 
  • Jalen Gaston grabbed a season-high of 11 rebounds. 
  • The game was AUM's seventh contest that was five points or less. The Warhawks are 4-3 in games decided by five points or less. 
UP NEXT

AUM will host Valdosta State University in Gulf South Conference action on Saturday at 4 p.m. at the AUM Athletics Complex.
