CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Auburn Montgomery Men's Basketball Team saw four different players score in double figures on its way to a 61-57 road win at Delta State in Gulf South Conference play on Thursday, Feb. 17.
With the win, AUM improves to 10-15 overall and 7-10 in GSC action,
Isaiah Hart scored a team-high 14 points on the evening, highlighted by a 6-6 performance from the free throw line.
Roderick Smith scored 13 points on a 6-9 shooting night while blocking a team-high three shots.
James Graham (11) and
Jeremiah Bozeman (10) both each also scored in double figures with both also hauling in eight rebounds. Bozeman additionally dished out a team-high five assists.
Jelal Williams pulled down a team-high nine rebounds with six points while
Deven Tucker added eight boards and four points.
Both teams scored 11 points over the first seven and a half minutes of game time, with a layup by Smith at the 12:13 mark putting AUM up 13-11.
With the score reading 16-all at the 10:55 mark, AUM would go on to outscore the Statesmen 12-7 to take a 28-23 lead into halftime.
The Statesmen outscored AUM 10-6 over the first four minutes to tie the game at 34-all with 15:36 to play. The Warhawks would crank things back up on offense over the next five minutes, however, by rattling off a 13-5 run to take a 47-39 lead at the 10:18 mark.
DSU slowly inched its way back into the game with a 10-6 run over the next seven minutes, capped off by a successful jumper at the 1:57 mark that trimmed AUM's lead to 53-51.
The Warhawks kept their foot on the gas over the final two minutes, however. A Graham jumper at the 1:27 mark put them up 51-55, and was followed by six successful free throws from Hart to give way to the 61-57 final.
AUM finished the night shooting 35 percent (24-67) from the floor, with Delta State shooting 37 percent (19-51) for the game. The Warhawks out-rebounded the Statesmen, 43-32.
Of the Warhawks' 61 points, 34 came in the paint. AUM also tallied 16 bench points, 10 second chance points, and 10 points off of DSU turnovers.
The Warhawks will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 19 for a 4:00 p.m. tip-off at Mississippi College.
