Two Score 20 Points In Loss To #20 Lee

CLEVELAND, Tenn. – Despite Allasha Dudley and Catlin Carter's 20-point efforts, the Auburn University at Montgomery women's basketball team fell to 20th-ranked and Gulf South Conference foe Lee University on Saturday afternoon.

The Warhawks fall to 6-11 on the year and sit at 1-10 in conference action. Lee, meanwhile, improves to 17-3 on the year with a 10-2 mark in GSC play.

Dudley led the Warhawks in scoring with 25 points, while Carter was the only other Warhawk to score more than five points after netting 23 points against the Lady Flames. Dudley also led the team in rebounding with six boards.

The Warhawks were slow out of the gate against Lee, scoring just eight points in the first quarter. The Lady Flames raced out to a 13-3 lead over AUM before Jordan Brewster, Jamya Tyus, and Tamia Willingham-King scored baskets to limit the Lee damage at 20-8 after 10 minutes of action.

A jumper from Carter three minutes into the second quarter cut the Lady Flame lead down to five before a pair of baskets from the home team extended the AUM deficit back to nine points. After Dudley converted on a pair of free throws to keep the Lee lead at nine, the Lady Flames would extend their lead to 14 at the halftime break, leading 41-27.

AUM continued to struggle to begin the third period as Lee brought their lead to 17 with 6:29 left in the quarter. The Warhawks closed the gap quickly to end the third quarter, receiving contributions from a variety of players. AUM was the benefactor of an 11-3 run to cut the Lee lead to 10 after 30 minutes of play.

The Warhawks continued their late success into the start of the fourth quarter, bringing the Lee lead to 58-53 after trailing by as many as 19 earlier in the game. A quick run from the Lady Flames brought their lead to 70-59, but a pair of successful free throws from Carter with 1:20 to go cut the lead back to five. After fouls from AUM, Lee converted on all of their free throws to cement their 76-67 win over AUM.

AUM's women's basketball team will concluded their quick two-game road trip on Monday when they travel to Carrollton, Ga., to take on Gulf South Conference foe West Georgia. The action against the Wolves is slated to begin at 4:30 p.m.
