#2 Warhawks Get RBIs From 10 Different Players, Route Christian Brothers 13-1

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The second-ranked Auburn University at Montgomery softball team earned a commanding 13-1 win over Gulf South Conference foe Christian Brothers on Sunday afternoon behind offensive contributions from most of the offense.

The Warhawks finish the weekend with a 34-8 record overall in 2022 and improve to 22-5 in Gulf South Conference action this season. Christian Brothers falls to 14-30 this year, with an 8-19 mark in conference play.

The Warhawks got another stellar outing from Junior ace Alanna Goble on Sunday. She took a perfect game into the fourth inning and struck out 10 batters while allowing just three hits en route to her eighth-straight win and ninth overall.

AUM was dynamic on offense in the series finale against the Bucs, recording six extra-base hits. Kat Fallen, Gia Martin, and Chloe Derrick registered doubles. Haylee Brown and Martin added a triple to their day, while Molly Cobb recorded her second home run of the series.

Fallen recorded the first RBI of the game for the Warhawks in the first inning, scoring Allie Miller on a double down the left-field line. The Warhawks were able to add two more runs in the top of the second, as Shelby Newsome and Haley Ann Frank recorded RBIs to put AUM ahead 3-0 after two.

Cobb launched her sixth home run of the season in the top of the third inning on a solo blast to right-center, while Margaret Morgan was able to reach on a fielder's choice to score Martin on a bunt to first base to run the score to 5-0.

The offense for AUM broke out in the top of the fourth as a Derrick two-run double started the action for the Warhawks. Lexi Love and Newsome were able to net RBI singles later in the inning, and the fourth was capped off by a pinch-hit two-run triple from Brown to extend the lead to 11-0 after four.

In the fifth, AUM was able to get contributions from Martin and Olivia Aycock before Christian Brothers recorded a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth to bring the eventual final score to 13-1.

AUM will play their final two road games of the season in their next scheduled contest, as they are scheduled to play Montevallo twice on Wednesday starting at 5 p.m. The doubleheader against the Falcons will not count toward the GSC standings.
