Warhawks Named Third Seed In NCAA DII Finals

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The third-ranked Auburn University at Montgomery softball team has been named the third seed in Bracket 2 in the upcoming NCAA DII Finals in Denver. It is the first time AUM has reached the finals since joining the NCAA ranks.

AUM is coming off thrilling NCAA postseason victories. The Warhawks advanced to the NCAA South Super Regional after going 3-1 in their first taste of NCAA tournament action in 2022. AUM defeated Tuskegee, Nova Southeastern, and Alabama Huntsville to set up a date with Valdosta State in the super regional.

After dropping the first game of a best-of-three series, the Warhawks needed to beat the Blazers twice in one day to advance to the NCAA Finals. AUM was able to hang on late in game two of the series to set up a winner-take-all third game. With a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the seventh, Brinkley Yevak completed her complete-game gem to send AUM to the Finals for the first time in program history.

The Warhawks join UT Tyler, Adelphi, Southern Indiana, Rogers State, Seton Hill, North Georgia, and Cal State Dominguez Hills as the eight participants in the NCAA Finals. The eight teams are split up into two four-team brackets, and the winner of the respective double elimination-style brackets will meet in a best-of-three series to determine the national champion.

AUM has been placed in Bracket 2 along with No. 2 Adelphi, No. 6 Seton Hill, and No. 7 North Georgia. The Warhawks will open play against Seton Hill on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. North Georgia is the only team in the field that AUM has seen this season, as the Warhawks were able to sweep the Nighthawks in a two-game midweek series.

Tickets are available online, and an all-session pass for an adult is $30, for students with a student ID or children ages 17 and under, all-session passes are $15. Single-day adult passes are $10, while seniors, students, or children under 17 will be charged $5 for a singles day pass.
