WINGATE, N.C. -- Adam Hanson tallied his first goal in an Auburn University at Montgomery uniform, but a late goal from Wingate forced the No. 8 ranked Warhawks and the Bulldogs into a 1-1 draw on Friday at the WU Soccer Complex.

HIGHLIGHTS
- The two sides played the first 54 minutes of the match scoreless.
- AUM out-shot Wingate 7-4 in the second half, including a trio of point-blank opportunities, but were unable to find the scoreboard.
- The Warhawks jumped in front in the 68th minute, as a Landon Surratt throw-in helped lead to the game's first goal.
- Surratt's throw landed in the box and caromed around before Adam Hanson smashed a ball into the lower left corner of the goal to put the visitors on top 1-0.
- AUM held onto the lead late into the game, but Wingate found an answer in the game's closing minute.
- The Bulldogs' Niclas Wittur found the game-tying goal inside of 30 seconds left in the match off a free kick to help his team pull out a result.

"It's a cruel game when you don't manage the lead until the final seconds," said head coach
Matthew Thorne. "We had a much better second half...the lads pushed and we got the lead with our pressure. Some players turned in an excellent shift for us today. It's disappointing to not go home with the win, but we learn from it and move on. Now it's time to recover and focus on playing national finalist Mobile (Ala.) at home on Sunday."
