Volleyball Wins At Lee In GSC Clash

CLEVELAND, Tenn. - The Auburn University at Montgomery volleyball team swept Lee University 3-0 on Friday night in Cleveland, Tennessee in a Gulf South Conference matchup inside Paul Dana Walker Arena.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Lady Flames took a 2-1 lead after a kill and it was all AUM in set one after that. Savannah Sebek served a 12 point rally that gave AUM an 18-3 lead. Keren Santana and Kyla Ffrench posted kills to give AUM the 24th and 25th point of the set as they earned the 25-8 first set victory. 
  • The second set was more back-and-forth and with it tied at eight, the Warhawks found some momentum and a kill from Ruth Sconocchini gave them a 16-10 lead in set two. Allesia Cappai picked up a kill to take a 21-13 lead and Myllena Torquetti tallied a kill to give AUM a 25-17 victory in set two. 
  • Kaleigh Fitzgerald served a seven-point rally to help give AUM a 9-2 lead in the third set. The two teams traded points until the Lady Flames took a 8-0 run to take a 17-16 lead. AUM responded with a 5-0 run led by a kill from Torquetti from Campbell Gash to push the Warhawks back in front and eventually another 4-0 run captured the match after the 25-18 victory in the third set. 
STATS OF THE MATCH
  • Cappai led the Warhawks in kills with 10, her fourth consecutive game with 10 or more kills and her eighth this season. The sophomore also posted five service aces and nine digs. 
  • Torquetti has nine kills on 16 total attacks. She finished with a hitting percentage of .563. The junior had six block assists and three solo blocks. 
  • Sebek dished out 19 assists and Gash had 11. Sebek chipped in with four service aces. 
  • Fitzgerald and Santana led the Warhawk defense with 14 and 13 digs.
