ROME, Ga. - The Auburn University at Montgomery volleyball team dropped the first set Saturday afternoon at Shorter University. but rallied back to pick up the 3-1 victory in a Gulf South Conference matchup inside Winthrop-King Centre.

HIGHLIGHTS
- The opening set was back-and-forth, until Shorter gained momentum and earned a 11-16 lead. The Warhawks chipped away at the lead and made it and back-to-back kills from Allesia Cappai and Giulia Santuari made the set even at 22-22. AUM took a 24-23 lead, but the home team rallied to take the set 26-24 and a 1-0 lead in the match.
- In the second set, the Hawks took a 13-18 lead and AUM responded with a 7-0 run to gain a 20-18 lead. Myllena Torquetti served the Warhawks to set point at 24-20 and a kill from Ruth Sconocchini captured the set for AUM 25-10 and evened the match at 1-1.
- The Warhawks kept the momentum rolling in the third set as they jumped to a 18-11 lead after taking advantage of a few Shorter errors. Kaleigh Ftizgerald delivered a service ace to extend the lead to 20-12 and eventually a kill from Santuari off the assist from Campbell Gash gave AUM a 2-1 lead in the match.
- Auburn Montgomery dominated the fourth set and held a 5-0 lead after a kill from Keren Santana from Savannah Sebek. The Warhawks used a four point rally to make it 17-5. Santana produced three kills in the final six AUM points to help push the team to a 25-11 victory in the final set and clinch the match 3-1.
STATS OF THE MATCH
- Kyla Ffrench and Sconocchini had seven kills each and Santana posted six.
- The Warhawks earned nine service aces, and Fitzgerald tallied three along with 15 digs on the defensive side.
- Sebek led AUM's setters with 17 assists. Bretwisch and Gash chipped in with six each.
