MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Auburn University at Montgomery volleyball squad went to five sets and earned a 3-2 victory over University of West Georgia on Saturday afternoon inside the AUM Athletics Complex in a Gulf South Conference matchup on Senior Day. 

Prior to the match AUM honored Amber Bretwisch, Keren Santana, Giulia Santuari, and Kyla Ffrench for being seniors.

HIGHLIGHTS

• The Warhawks and Wolves battled in set one as neither team could gain complete control of the set. Ruth Sconocchini checked in and immediately delivered a kill to put AUM up 23-21. The kill was followed by an attack error on the Wolves and Maya Thompson put the set away with a kill from Savannah Sebek to push AUM up 1-0. 
• Set two was much like the first. AUM trailed 17-19 and a kill from Thompson and two attack errors on UWG tied it up at 19. West Georgia went on to win set two 25-22 and even the match at one a piece. 
• The Warhawks got in a groove with five blocks in set three to create energy during the set. Auburn Montgomery's Sebek used a six point rally to extend the lead to 11-5. Kills from Santuari, Ruth Sconocchini, and Myllena Torquetti put the set away and AUM won it 25-10. 
• West Georgia responded well in set four, despite AUM taking an early 5-0 lead. The Wolves trimmed the lead down and eventually captured the set off a block 25-22 to force a fifth set. 
• West Georgia's momentum carried into set five and they took an early 4-0 lead. AUM got on the board with a kills from Ffrench, Alessia Cappai, and Santuari. With the Wolves leading 6-5, a service error on UWG gave AUM momentum to score the final nine points and clinch the match 3-2 off a kill from Thompson. 

STATS OF THE MATCH

• Cappai posted 16 kills and brings her career total up to 503. 
• Ffrench tallied a season-high of total blocks with eight and chipped in with three kills. 
• Santuari, Sconocchini, and Thompson all had double-digit kills. 
• Kaleigh Fitzgerald dug 26 balls in the match and added nine assists and two service aces. 
• Sebek and Bretwisch combined for 39 assists, with Bretwisch posting 23.
