MACON, Ga. -- The Auburn University at Montgomery men's tennis members Agustin Marquez and Alex Verdasco competed at the 2023 Mercer Gridiron Classic this past weekend.

Men's Open Singles
Agustin Marquez picked up a win in his first match against Aurelien from Georgia College & State University 1-6, 6-3, 6-2 and advanced to the second round of the Flight C bracket. Alex Verdasco was defeated in the first round of the Flight B bracket against GCSU's Rodrigo Crespo 6-4, 4-6, 3-6. Verdasco played in the Flight B South bracket and won the bracket after knocking out Flagler College's Asher Willenborg 6-1, 6-0. 

Men's Open Doubles
In the men's open doubles bracket, the duo of Marquez and Verdasco were defeated 2-8 against Troy University's Noah Martens and Benjamin Ambrosio. They then played in the Flight A1 West bracket and took down GCSU's Braxton Wright and Enzo Sergi 8-4 and were defeated against Mercer University's Samuel Barrow and Victor Putter 6-8.
