NEW CASTLE, Delaware -- The Auburn University at Montgomery men's basketball team collected the program's first Top 25 ranking as an NCAA Division II institution, as the Warhawks debuted in a tie at No. 20 in the College Sports Communicators Top 25 Media Poll.
AUM turned in a 77-74 win on the road over Saint Leo University to open the campaign. The Warhawks got 22 points, four steals, and a perfect 12-for-12 effort from the foul line from
Jalil Robinson to lead the charge in the win.
Jalen Gaston (19 points) and
Malachi Rhodes (10 points) also added double-digit efforts in the win over the Lions.
The Warhawks followed that up with a 68-65 take-down of Florida Southern College, which was receiving votes in the NABC Top 25 Poll.
Gaston led five AUM players in double figures with 15 points against the Mocs. Freshman
Chappelle Whitney was a perfect 3-for-3 from downtown and added 13 points,
Gilbert Croley totaled 11 points, and
Deven Tucker chipped in 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Jalil Robinson added 13 points, including the final seven points for AUM to close out Florida Southern.
The Warhawks return to the floor on Tuesday, Nov. 21 at 7:30 P.M. in Mobile, Alabama as they take on Spring Hill College.
