Men's Basketball Comes Up Short In Midweek Matchup At Spring Hill

MOBILE, Ala. -- Malachi Rhodes posted his second double-double of the season on Tuesday night in Auburn University at Montgomery men's basketball's 99-89 loss at Spring Hill College inside the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center in Mobile, Alabama in a nonconference matchup. 

Rhodes scored 15 points and brought down 12 rebounds in the game.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Jelal Williams made a dunk off an assist from Deven Tucker in the opening minutes of the game to give the Warhawks a 6-2 lead. 
  • The two teams traded baskets in the first half and neither could gain a lead of more than four points until the Badgers capitalized on a small run to take an eight point lead. 
  • Jaquan Tyus sank a free-throw at the end of the half and SHC went into the intermission break with a 43-38 lead. 
  • Spring Hill controlled the lead for most of the second half, but Jalen Gaston connected on a layup to spark an AUM run that was followed by a layup by Tucker and a Chappelle Whitney scored on a three-pointer to even the game at 58. 
  • Jalil Robinson made a free-throw at the nine minute mark to push the Warhawks in front 62-61. 
  • The Badgers caught on fire from beyond the arc connecting on four three-pointers, which would give them the edge as they won 99-89. 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Robinson scored 17 points with 10 of them coming from the charity stripe. 
  • Tucker reached double-digits in scoring at 15 points. Rhodes added a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds.
  • Gaston and Whitney posted 13 points each.
